> Wifi (on W715) instead of 3g
Bookmark topic
Hi everyone,
First post here! Got a Vodafone W715, and got it connected to the home wireless network (it says it's connected and everything). Going to Menu => Web, the browser works fine and fast etc.
My question is how can I ensure (or know) that it is connecting using wifi and not using 3g etc. (for which I'd have to pay for data usage). I never need to use mobile data access, only wifi...
Sorry if that's confusing or blindingly obvious, but I just don't want to start browsing things on it now and then end up with a 1000 pound phone bill for data usage.
Cheers
Pavel

When connected to a Wi-Fi network it reroutes all data traffic through it. If it loses connection to the wireless network, a pop-up appears that tells you it's now using the 3G network, so that you can quickly press the end key.

Welcome at Esato. You can set your phone at gsm only, saves battery also. Aint there an option (preferences/advanced) to use home networks only?

When set to gsm only, the phone will still be able to connect to the provider's data network, instead of WiFi.
It'll be slower, GPRS instead of 3G, but not cheaper.
