I know the last topic was closed, but i would like to put my point of view across but i can't anymore.

I know a lot of members on esato aren't particluarly happy with comments eldar has been making about se, particularly the point that SE is copying Nokia. Well i was looking through some old reviews on mobile-review and when i was reading through the K850 review i came across this.......

Nokia User Interface
One of the strategic decisions for Sony Ericsson was support for Java classes for Nokia UI in 2004. As a result of this field’s development the Sony Ericsson K850i, as well as other handsets running the JP-8 have switched over to the S40 philosophy. What is this all about?

First of all, the keypad layout. Before this moment, all handsets by Sony Ericsson had two soft-keys and a separate Back button that allows jumping back to the previous menu or standby. The new models have no trace of this key left. Now there are three soft-keys placed right beneath the display, whose actions bear strong resemblance of the S40 utilized by Nokia. Obviously, this move by Sony Ericsson along with standardization of Java (MSA support), makes the life of software developers so much easier. But is it any good for users? To my mind, again we run into the situation when previous user experience has no effect. All the things the company has been making us learn over the past 5 years in now gone, the new experience is here to stay. And it is interesting only for those who would like to migrate from Nokia- to Sony Ericsson-branded solutions, rather than the brand loyal users. It might be questionable, but after all it is a forced step – the only thing left to add is that the users will get used to the new layout sooner or later; thankfully it is not that hard.

This is the first time i am starting to see some stark similarities with nokia, but thats besides the point, howecome there wasn't any complaints about this comment back then that se is trying to be like Nokia? Perhaps because of the glowing K850 review, now Eldars reviews arent so glowing we are bashing the comments on SE and Nokia similarities but why, what has changed???

misinformed or moron? this guy have no idea why Nokia UI API appeared in Java Platform!

main and in fact the only reason was very clever and simple. most of Java (J2ME) games and applications created in early 200x were developed for Nokia phones and developers (programmers) often used Nokia UI API to make many things in code faster and better. developers support for phones were still poor, moreover you couldn't run Java application developed for Nokia (with Nokia UI API) in phones. to make this possible and to stimulate J2ME developers decided to implement Nokia UI API in Java Platform 3. I remember this moment, this was very good decision by

It would be nice if they made a plug-in for Iphone apps too. That would make Eldars day, hey?

why are people letting Eldar get to them. let him say what he wants. everyone is entitled to their own opinions weather you agree or don't agree with them.

Well I dunno about Eldar but I liked the 3 softkey layout. Who cares if it makes SE look more Nokia-ish since like Raid said, it was intended so SE handsets can take advantage of 3rd party devs' support.

Well, how come that Eldar just says it's not that smart for loyal customers in this review and that he is now bashing SE with it?

its so hard to stop bashing him hehe.... when a company trying to make life for developer and consumer easier to introduce something common in the market...he critics....when those company refuse to listen to the market call like fast port or M2 card...he said it is bad as well

honestly we don't know what he want and excuse me...that he is wrong...the first phone to use the Nokia UI then should be Z750....since it is the first one with 3 soft key and answer/ reject call just like nokia phone

just because that phone didn't reach russia.....didn't mean it never out in the market.

the more i look into it...Eldar look like a fake name....the author might have likely be changed and therefore you see a change of taste towards one company.
