My K850i can't play more than one song without stopping.
Near the end (usually with a few seconds to go) music (mp3) playback stops and I get a popup saying 'Failed'. If I skip to the next song it plays fine.

The same happens whether I play through a playlist, or through the artists or albums sub-menu. It's the same both from memory card and music stored on the phone. Shuffle, loop are off (on/off makes no difference).
I've tried deleting and copying different music too, but that doesn't work.

A master rest hasn't helped either.

Firmware is R1AC037 (3UK), the most up do date available.
I re-installed firmware through SEUS this morning, but it hasn't helped.

Any advice?

Do you have any applications or games running in background?

No nothing at all - it didn't work yesterday and I tried it earlier immediately after a complete factory reset, but I still have this problem.

R1CA037 is an old firmware, certainly with lots of bugs. You have to upgrade to ultimate latest version which is R1FA035 but your phone is branded. You have to debrand and then re-update via SEUS.

You need a WESTERN_EUROPE CDA number and A2Uploader.

Here you go: http://www.se-stuff.net/help/debranding.html

I hope this helps

I apologise, my firmware is R1FA037.

I'm about to try debranding...

I've successfully debranded (I think - followed all the steps, and started the phone after using the A2 Tool to a loading bar/screen.

However, I can't re-update via SEUS - there's nothing available to me apparently, as I'm up to date. The only options available are to exit SEUS or update another phone. Previously I was able to re-install the same firmware on SEUS (I did this yesterday)
I've tried repeating the whole process, but it hasn't helped.

Do you know of any other way to change firmware - do I have to pay?

I'm thinking of selling it or swapping it fr another (used) phone now - my 18 month contract is up and I don't want to upgrade or get a new contract just yet - waiting for the Sony Ericsson Raphael (which may be longer than I anticipate, knowing SE).

You can install new firmware using a2uploader. The firmware both main and fs can be download from 4shared including customizing pack. There is a tutorial available for flashing using a2uploader by tranced in software, firmware section. Just check it out.

Link to tutorial.

Thanks for your reply.

I came across a tutorial on SE-NSE and have flashed a new firmware - it's just finished now and the phone's working.

BUT, I'm still having the problem with playing music. Damn It.

@ Aameerp. If you are waiting for Raphael, you better pick a nice phone on a 1 year contract. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes that long.

Fingers crossed it'll be released before Christmas!

But from what happened with the Xperia X1 you might be right!
By the time it was released, it wasn't groundbreaking and in some ways fell short of other, similar phones (HTC Touch HD is the most obvious one).
