I am spitting fire and all confused. I recently bought a Sony Blue Ray player from Richer Sounds and also a cheap 22 inch Sony LCD tv for my bedroom. BOTH HAVE BROKEN DOWN WITHIN A WEEK. I returned both items the guy in the shop could not believe i walked in with 2 faulty Sony products. Anyway they replaced both and since then tv has been ok but the 2nd Blue Ray player from Sony has also died. No buttons responding at all. Whats going on with Sony this aint normal? As usual the guy in the shop said OH WE SELL LOADS OF THESE WE NEVER GET PROBLEMS. Well how come i did? Maybe Sony Ericsson problems is rubbing off on Sony. I have now replaced the Blue Ray with an LG which matches my 40 inch main tv which is LG and thats been reliable. Richer Sounds i know they sell cheaper goods but they are proper big brands so no lemons as they say. It was brand new too not open boxed. My old Sony tv before i bought the LG 40inch used to play up alot too. Starting to wonder about Sony. I love Sony but wonder weather companies like Samsung or LG may one day over take Sony.

I think what happened to you there was just bad luck thats all any product can break down at any time be it brand new i've gone through many Sony products including TV's DVD players digicams and laptops and never ever had a single problem with any of them but i did have problems with an LG TV i bought which packed on me 2 weeks in so at the end of the day its a machine which could have been fitted with a inferior component on the assembly line which work fine during testing but pack up later but you have to remember sony are better for quality and reliability as they are a tried and trusted brand and have been in the game longer than your LG's and Samsung's

To be absolutely honest, I hate Sony products. I remember back in 2000/1 when the mobile divisions of Sony and Ericsson announced the merger that I thought "thats it, goodbye Ericsson". But they suprised me, consistently good productes came from SE. The thing I hate about Sony is the fact they are ALWAYS overpriced. I remember buying a portable CD player about 10 years ago,I decided on an LG that cost £60. The same store had a Sony that cost £90 but the LG had better features and was a better design. Those days you could say Sony had a better build quality which would persuade some people to go for Sony, but over time that has detirorated, hence the OP.

I've never had a problem with any of my sony products. I have had too many problems for my liking with samsung so I kinda stick to sony products now. Its a bit more expensive, but I dont mind paying for the quality.

Same for me. Well nothing recently anyway. A few of my old SE phones 4-5 years ago had some problems but Sony has been good to me so far.

I normally try and go for sony products when possible, i have a 5-6 year old desktop which still works, ok fair enough it is slow but it still works and i also have a 5 year old cybershot which recently died on me at a Oasis concert but to be fair 5 years later and some 8k pictures im happy with the use i have had from it. SO all in all i think you have been just unlucky.
