Dealers claim several problems still exist on Sony Ericsson phones, despite the company saying it was addressing problems
Dealers are still experiencing major repair problems with Sony Ericsson handsets, even though the company claimed five months ago it was radically addressing the problem.
In February dealers reported widespread build quality issues with Sony Ericsson handsets, with the C905 (pictured) taking the brunt of criticism.
Sony Ericsson managing director Nathan Vautier told Mobile News: “We are addressing this radically, starting from within the core of our manufacturing business.”
However dealers said last week the problems are just as prominent now.
Alex Desteve of Manchesterbased Mobile Zone said: "We’re still seeing problems with the C905’s earpiece and the software on the C902. These queries continue to come in on a daily basis. It’s going to take time for Sony Ericsson to address these problems but it needs to act quickly."
Another repair centre said: "I’m getting 10 enquiries a day from customers complaining about mass speaker and earpiece problems on both of these. This has been the case for months now and it’s clear the problems haven’t been addressed."
A Sony Ericsson spokesman said: "We have recognised the issues we have had with quality on some of our models. As a business we have taken huge steps to ensure that we don’t see these types of issues arising again in our future models.
"It’s sad to hear that dealers are still experiencing issues with the products that are still in the market but we have seen improvements in some of the later manufactured products and the W995 has so far seen good levels of quality in the market. Unfortunately we cannot just turn on a tap to improve quality. It takes time but this is number one priority."

Surely there will still be problems as handsets that were made a while ago are still in warehouses and don't go wrong strait away. This will take a little while to filter through.

Nice to hear there is good feedback coming from dealers regarding the W995 - its been relatively quiet here too on the fault reporting front.
The issues regarding the C905 and older models are already well documented and it seems these are still lingering.

No problems at all ? At least se admits there are some. We'll wait and see. Let's hope for it. to be continued. . .

Lets hope cos at the moment i miss Sony Ericsson as i dont have any of their models right now. I have taken a break from them. I look forward to return soon when it feels right lets hope things improve. It just goes to show you can get things right cos my current Samsung Pixon and Nokia 6303 i have had not one single issue with both phones. Come on Sony Ericsson we miss the old classic reliablity days

the new models are promising, but this 'problem' reporting from so many people has let me off from buying any of them...

If the W995 is anything to go by then it seems they may have turned the page already.
I want to see more metal handsets.
The W890 looked and felt great.

Yes shoddy built handsets is major right now people are sick of phones falling apart. The w995 sounds and looks great though i am going off slide phones due to poor build even though a bigger screen is normally on a slide phone. Also the c510 is proving reliable despite one or two problems nothing major. Though the c510 i went off due to poor signal in good coverage and muffled call quality. I wish Sony Ericsson would not put their antennas in the bottom of their phones as it produces poor signal when your hand is carrying it. Well its in some of their models anyway.

In all fairness, it is the C905 out of how many recently released phones? Can't believe I'm actually defending them!
The W995 is their best work as far as build vs software quality is concerned, and that after a long while. As mentioned by goldenface, maybe they have truly learned a hard lesson.
Satio will make or break them you feel. Hopefully this long time they are taking in releasing it means it will be bug free and built solidly.
