Hello all, first post nice place yadda yadda
I've got a sony ericsson w760 that I've had for about 2 weeks, which I was using to write a text and suddenly the signal dropped to nothing in my hand. I powered it off and it now won't recognize the sim card. My roommate had att also and full signal (always full signal in our house) and let me use her sim card in the phone and it wasn't recognized either. My sim card is now working perfectly fine in my backup nokia (hoarding has it's benefits) but I still haven't been able to find anything wrong with the sim card.
I had a similar problem with a motorola z9 about a month ago (it worked fine and made/received calls), then after I replaced the screen it quit recognizing the sim card. I'm wondering if there is any similarity here. Anyway, can anyone recommend a way to flash the firmware or diagnose or fix this?

I'll recommend using A2uploader for changing CDA and update with SEUS. If you feel more brave try flashing just with A2uploader, it's not hard by any means:

Good luck!

Hey thanks for the links. I download the a2uploader v3 from the post you linked, but have been having trouble finding firmware to flash it with (I'm gonna have to buy a cable too) sony ericsson's site is 404'ing me every time I try to get to it, is there anywhere else to get firmwarez?
I'll probably just use the SEUS for now, I don't understand a lot of this and I don't like running things I don't understand. What is CDA anyway, knowing that would help me feel better and my google searches are all just coming up with tutorials on how to generate or change it. The tutorial you linked doesn't actually say anything about how to change the CDA though, is it just a button on the a2uploader or something?

*pfft* that's no fun. I'm just curious what CDA is, it looks like all I need to do is download the firmware and use SEUS to flash it, I don't understand where CDA comes in and what it is.

Haha, don't worry, I'm here to answer your questions as far as I know them ...
CDA it's a number or like a code which identifies the carrier/provider and region of the phone. This number it's used for SEUS identifiy your phone and put a firmware according to it, branded/unbranded and the language it comes. Changing CDA number makes SEUS recognize your phone different and install a different firmware, could be unbranded and/or with different languages. So it all depends which CDA you choose and upload to your phone
A2uploader flashing doesn't need to change CDA, because it will flash with the firmware you choose instead of letting SEUS do it
I don't know what country you are, but if you need English just look for a generic CDA for AMERICA or WESTERN EUROPE and let SEUS do the rest. If you need the firmwares files (Main and File Systems) try searching on 4Shared.
Hope it helps!

Is a2uploader available as a linux binary? Or source I can try to compile for myself? I can do Windows but it requires rebooting and compiling is more fun too haha. I'm pretty sure this phone is American it shipped from America and the text messages that were on it seemed American, I'll prolly just leave the CDA alone. I got a cable coming in the mail so I have to wait to try.
Thanks for explaining CDA alex, it's nice to know what your doing when doing something

Haha! Flashed the firmware with SEUS and fixed it! Couldn't have been simpler, just had to wait for a cable to get here in the mail. Thanks for the help alexIT and esato!
Now to see if that fix will fix the motorola z9 that I have with the same problem....
