Guys,
I'm having a crazy problem with my K800i (phone is about 3 yrs old)

Two days ago I just restarted my phone and my display went corrupt. I can see only a select and info on boot up. If I select it seems like it goes to phone mode, but the display shows only two options 'Menu' and 'Call'. I can't see anything if I select on any of these.

Here is what I've tried so far
1. Connected to PC Suite and backed up all data. No problems here.
2. Checked to see if repair phone would help, but it failed with no errors.
3. Downloaded Update Service and it ended saying that the phone has the latest version of the software (no updates in 3 yrs of the phone. Wondering how it said the software is the latest???
4. Want to try to Master Reset, but cannot see the menu

Is there a way to do the master reset through PC Suite or any other way?
I'd like to avoid the service center trip... they are supposedly stupid in this part of the world!

i have the same fault.
I have previously emailed Sony Ericsson for assistance but all I got was the instructions on how to master reset. unfortunately, clicking on the keys blindly does not perform a master reset.

I tried using SEUS to upgrade but same result as yours. I tried updating my k850i and it say it has the latest version. However SEUS gave me the option to re-install. So I did, and it worked. When I tried to re-connect my k800i to SEUS it did not offer me to re-install. How annoying.

But Display Driver Might have something to with it. I too faced this problem once, Dont Remember WHAT solved it.


If you know how to FLASH then try to Download the ORIGINAL Display Driver and Load it to you mobile.

If you Dont know How ... Then You either Wait for EXPERIENCED persons here to solve it to you, or mean While learn it

You can use MyPhoneExplorer 1.7 to access your phone's keypad and screen. You can do master reset using that. Ive done many things like that on a W580 with no display.

hi max75. today i got the chance to use Wotan for the first time and has successfully changed my firmware down to R1JE001. Only reason I went and chose an older version was so I can use SEUS, once the downgrade is successful. But now that it's working... hopefully I won't need to go back to SEUS.

I have made my first phone call, the display is correct, camera working (though it still does not silence the shutter sound).

Try downloading the wotanclient (I used the 1.1.9.0) and read the getting started guide pdf. Run steps 1-3 to see if you get the same warning I did... ie "EROM: your version is way too old:" I think I even had a pop up saying update EROM or else your phone will become unuseable soon. Now, this message prompts me that someone somewhere knew that in the SE phones codes it will crash in the near future. Bugger. I used up 1 wotan credit to do the job. And you need to have one before you can fix your EROM issue.

I'll try upgrading it to the latest version using SEUS.

Just upload the original layout of k800i and your done

This happened on my w550i with corrupted layout.xml just reupload your original layout.xml

have you fixed the problem? I have the exact same problem and I'm having problems with XS++ too, can someone help me with uploading layout.xml on to my K800i please. thanks
