My Sony Clie also have USB, and sync/transfer to it is lightning fast.
What is wrong?

There is nothing wrong, it's two different phones. I don't find it that slow considering all the data it has to go throug on a P800.

USB1.1 transfer speed is 11mbit/s. To sync or transfer a MP3 (to the phone OR card) takes minutes. Not very acceptable i think.
I will buy a BT dongle. I hope it is a bit faster, even if BT is about 1Mbit/s.

The P800 uses the same system connector as the rest of the SE phones. That means that it uses serial transfers, and the sync station is just a serial to USB converter. Therefor you get Serial speeds instead of USB speeds...
