I've been wondering if there is a function on mobile phones, when in silent mode, to activate sounds for certain people.
My idea, I like to keep my phone on loud at night for people who may need me eg. family, friends.
But I get fed up with random texts from random people 'Are you awake, want to drink some beer?' etc.
It'd be much better if I could put my phone onto silent, but activate sounds for certain people, so if they need to contact me, I'll hear my phone, but not for when the random people text me!

the first thought off the top of my head is to have a real ringtone that is actually a silent recording and set that as your overnight ringtone.
then assign individual real ringtones to people you want to get calls from?

The same thought (as masseur's ) came to my mind as soon as i read the post.
I used to have a CHEAP mobile which did not have SILENT mode
So have to set SILENT ringtone

(That stupid mobile didnt have the datacable either ... have to buy the SILENT tone from the HOME network )
