I'm on Att here in the states and have full 3G support.(have the "H" icon in the upper left by signal) I can't stream video however. Youtube works on WiFi connection(not always but, it does) but won't through Network connection. Says it's playing but, there is no video or sound.

I've done some research and found this.

My first question is; is this a generic fix for ALL Sony Ericsson devices on Att or just the w760a?

If so, second, how do I make:

15000

into a customized_upgrade.xml that I can drag and drop into tpa/preset/custom? Or is there a better way to do it?

As always thank you,
Eddie

EDIT: I'm sorry it seems that Esato didn't post the custom upgrade correctly. It is the one shown in both those threads I linked to. Thanks (15000?)

Through more searching and reading I've seemed to answer all my own questions. Thanks(to me )

In case anyone was wondering or has the same problem I followed the instructions in the links I posted. Created xml. file using windows notepad, drag and dropped in tpa/preset/custom, and whaala had video streaming through my provider At&t.
HOWEVER, now I was unable to get a video to stream through my WiFi connection at my house. Would fail to connect to server and so on... browsing the internet was fine though. Today I turned off my 3G connection on my phone because the big "H" icon kills my battery. Literally less than half the battery-life I got with my c905i which didn't support 3G bands here in the states. Just now I hooked up to my WiFi to see if it would stream a video and IT DID. Leading me to believe that turning off the 3G allowed the WiFi to stream the video.

Or my phone fixed itself and it is just a coincidence. I'd be curious if someone having similiar issues would have the same results....

EddieAdams,

I tried turning 3G of and that did not work. YouTube contined to play 'black' blank video.

What I have found is this ... In your router there should be config setting for DMZ. Add the IP address of your phone to that. I found that fix on another forum thread and it works. YouTube will play via Wifi.

Has something to do with router non-support of RTSP streaming protocol. I did this at home, after by chance I tested Wifi at a local coffee shop where it worked for the first time. So the coffee shops router must be able to deal with RTSP.

Not my solution, but emphasizing DMZ

Mine also went blank at the youtube screen until i found the solution:

It seems that for youtube to play, in addition to the customize_upgrade.xml file, the router has to allow dmz for your phone.

First, I connected my phone to router via wifi

I have a tp link, so I went into the router page, 192.168.1.1, I enabled the firewall under security tab. Then under mac ip and mac binding tab, I checkmark the "bind the ip address (192.168.1.101) to the mac address (6C-0E-0D-A3-26-7D)" box so that the ip address of the phone won't change on each connection.

Then i go to fowarding>dmz and paste the ip address (192.168.1.101) and enable DMZ. Save n exit, Then youtube plays!!

Note that no phone settings are changed after the customize_upgrade.xml file.
