first you need to know the java, j2me(java 2 micro edition) languages.
and need to get the java development kit(JDK) + wireless toolkit(WTK), + an ide, like netbeans or textpad(this softwares are free!).
If you want see some example, source code look at my site, i made a five in a row game, and a half ready arcade spaceship shooter game.

i don't know where you guys get that thing about sponsor, everybody can make his own mobile game with free stuffs, but need some java programming knowledge.

the gomoku is downloadable with source code, the link is in my last post above the image
The game(The Wreckhunter) what i'm doing now i not upload while i not finish it, and i not sure about uploading the source of it.

but i think you shouldn't need start programming with games, first just make more simple programmes, which display an image, add numbers etc.
