Hi,

I own a SE w810i phone which is one year old. Since few days, my camera application used to take some long time to open and now it won't open at all. When I select camera button on Menu, it opens and closes immediately and I cannot see anything viewed through lens. It opens up with black screen and closes immediately and returns to menu. If I press camera button for long while on standby, it again opens camera and immediately closes.

Googling did not provide me valid results, but there is one forum thread from 2006 where the guy has discussed same problem, but solution is not available there too.

My warranty is already expired and I would like to fix it myself if it is a small issue and I guess its not something related with hardware.

I have tried these methods:

Removing and reinserting sim / battery / memory card.
Updating phone software using SE update service to latest version (R4ED001).

Hope some mobile geek can help me with right solution.

Thanks in advance

Hi Rapzet,
I think that you should replace the lens of the Camera of model SE w810i. After replacing the lens your camera will work fine.

Hey fuentesmith,

Thanks for the info. Could you please tell me the approx cost of lens. I could not find more details about the same on their site. BTW, I stay in India and my phone is unbranded.

Thanks
Rapzet

that fact that it opens then closes immediately says it's
a software / firmware issue I think.

potentially it's not the camera module but more likely to be
the flex ....
