Following the terrible news regarding the earthquake & tsumani in Samoa(God bless all of them poor people)I wanted to ask the question. Has anyone here on Esato ever been caught up in any natural disasters? Has anyone here had to go through massive earthquakes or hurricanes or escaped a flood? Its bad enough we have so many troubles in this world to try us but things like this make you think how lucky we are that we are all still here & we have what we have. Having only some minor earthquakes every ten years in the UK we are lucky. I can't begin to imagine what an 8.0 one is like must be scary. Biggest earthquake I have ever felt was on the Greek Island of Kefalonia during Euro 2004 we had quite a tremor whilst in a cafe but it was nothing bad although very scary.

Florida 2003 my family were in Hurricane Isabel. luckily all was well as they had prior warning, but as they say it's a natural disaster, or act of god, it's part and parcel of living on a planet with a molten centre and a crusty shell...

Bloody hell bet they were both scary Though yes they do say if we did not have natural disasters the world would actually be worse. Its just that some people in some countries are worse off in active zones. TruffleHunterSnortBeast(love your name) I remember the Mexico earthquake on the news I was in my 2nd year of senior school when that happened. Very bad one.

Thats very bad having to live with that though these storms are not actually caused by global warming. These type of storms have always happened and they say that if certain parts of the world did not have these storms the rest of the worlds weather would be out of control. Sad but true say the so called experts. Though I guess global warming is making perhaps things more frequent.

global warming makes storms more frequent and more intense. our storm last week here in the philippines, for example, dumped one month's worth of rain in six hours. the volume of water was even larger than that of hurricane katrina in new orleans. very difficult for any country to cope with that much rainfall, i think.

i'm not good in this area but imho human contribute to this disaster and responsible for what has happened, they collapsed the mountain, dug the earth, cleared the forest, spoilt the artic ecology, changed the river flow etc etc...and worst still doing underground/aboveground nuke test...human have to be blamed partly

To all Esatonians, please help the Philippines! There are lots of Filipinos who are victimized by typhoon Ondoy. No food to eat, no clothes to wear, and no shelter to live with. For more details, please visit http://twitter.com/iamsuperbianca Thank you!
