"GGRRR i'm fuming"
Ive just foundout that my Gas Supplier has been deducting 45p a day
as a Service charge, apparentley they do this if you have a PAYG meter on NPOWER,
I put £5 in a week for my Gas (covers Baths and Central heating)
after this charge is applied im left with just £1.50p and if I don't use it "ZERO"
if I go on the Emergencey credit all of this is deducted in full on the next top up..
I find this a disgrace tbh, with Winter fast approaching im glad I have a Oil Filled Radiator
cos I cannot afford to place my Central heating on,
Come March 2010 I will be asking NPOWER to take this Robbing device out for me,
I think the service charge is 8p a day that way, point is if you have a PREPAY GAS METER get rid of it,
it costs far to much RANT OVER!
Ps, Im curious but do other GAS SUPPLERS in the UK charge this fee everyday aswell?
post away all

only british gas have stopped the standing charge for prepayment meters, we're with eon and my standing charge for the last 10 months came to £97!!! + £37 vat!, our total payments for the last 10 months amounted to £779!! some weeks we were putting in £5 every 2 days and thats just for the electric!! the gas statement has'nt come yet! i agree its unfair considering we're like you are paying for your gas and electric up front!

Direct debit is usually the cheapest way of paying for gas and electricity. I'm in the process of renovating my flat looking around for good deals. I did think of having a meter fitted but reading this just confirms what i already thought.

@ shell, My Electric is fine ive not got a problem with it running out quick, £5 does a whole week,
ive got £20 in there atm, I keep it topped at £20 always...
since im running my cooker and oil radiator which works on electric
it's the gas thats crap,
im thinking about sending a complaint to OFCOM on this cos im not happy,
45p a day is disgusting, why should we pay service bleeding charges which are higher then pay monthley users :/
@ laura, when did you move out?
good god I need alot of catching upon everyone here
btw ive asked NPOWER to remove the Prepay rip off machine but I have to wait for 12mths,
it's something they all do apparentley allthese companiesyoucan pay them totake it outbut it's £50 to £75
your lucky you have a Pay monthly machine im jealous as you will be getting alot of warmth this winter lol
