Hi, I'm looking to get a spare BST-33 battery and have noticed some extremely cheap ones via google from places such as Amazon etc and was wondering if these could at all be fakes?

if its a market place seller at Amazon, such as in your link, then I'd be suspicious at that price

if its Amazon that are actually selling then I'd be perfectly happy

I notice on the Satio battery that actually comes with the phone it's 1000mAh but with all these cheap ones it's 900mAh.

BST-33 were originally 900mAh and its not the first time SE have used the same model number battery with a different capacity... If I remember correctly the BST-30 came in 850mAh and 900mAh capacities

I think the old K800 and K810 used the lower capacity. So these are all different batteries? or can they be used inside different handsets?

I still have the K800 and K810 boxed away.

Well, its like masseur said, however, seeing its a marketplace seller, and the price, i think its safe to assume they're fake...

there's no harm using a higher capacity battery in a phone that originally came with a lesser capacity as long as the battery is the same size with the connectors in the same place (i.e. its compatible)

the phone will still drain the battery at the same rate and so the phone will simply last longer with the higher capacity

the problems come with cheaper after market batteries that perhaps don't have the proper circuit protection for over voltage (over charging) or under voltage (draining the battery below its ability to accept a charge)

Strange, even the BST-33 listed on the Sony Ericsson website as being the spare battery for the Satio is 900mAh and the one that is in the handset is 1000mAh
