Do I need to have Mobile Phone Monitor installed for the bluetooth to work between pc and phone?

Not strictly true - you need MPM installed if you want to use any of the applications that communicate with the phone through MPM - basically any of the SE stuff and XTND. If you use other programs such as FMA, PC-Control etc, these just ask for the serial port you are using and don't need MPM.
