Something very odd has happened i need help to work it out. I recieved before the weekend a missed call which rang for 3 seconds then stopped. When i tried calling back i get the O2 answer phone. Now i tried calling it few times more still get answer phone. I rang O2 to find anything out i made it up that they were prank calling. Anyway turns out on O2's systems the number is invalid and when they call it the number says its not recognised. When i call it the number goes to voice mail. I am so confused. Could this be a prankster or one of them strange unknown mobile numbers that miss call people but no one can find out why? I have read of these strange things happening before and they always seem to be the same network. O2. Its only happened once with the missed call just find it odd. Help.

May be there is a technical error on O2’s system.

Yeah its so strange when i dialed it i had voicemail when they dialed it they had invalid number. It was also invalid on their systems. But i recieved a very quick missed call from that number. Had no other calls from it since its just so strange. Why would it call my number? Someone cant mis dial if the number is not in use. And someone cant be using the number to dial from any other means if again its invalid. I am glad its not called again though. I did recieve strange calls on my mobile 8 months ago but that stopped when i changed number. And there is no way anyone can get hold of my number and i am careful now who i give it to. Confused. I wonder if someone was testing weather the number was still active and randomly rang some number or O2's systems are so messed up(would not surprise me)that their system rang my number. I dont know its wierd. When i was last with O2 their systems were always doing odd random things with my number.

If theres no damage done is there any need to worry ? I've been on O2 for years now and every now and then i get strange phone calls. But i also got them with the other operators in the UK. Unless someone is being a prat and annoying / stalking / harrassing you i shouldnt worry about it.

I once had a girl calling me for months and leaving me answerphone messages. She thought i was her friend. She was shocked after months to find all the messages and voicemails she'd left had been to a complete stranger !

Yeah no damage. I am on Orange but this was an O2 number. Some of these missed calls can be scams forcing you to call back so you get charged a fortune. I did notice my credit jumped down rather fast. I have read alot of forums on this happening to people with random missed calls. Wont fall victim again. If it was someone calling for a prank it would be withheld. Thats what i love about Samsung phones they have the ability to auto reject withheld numbers.

I have found out and realised too i was victim of a missed call scam. Where it showed on O2 the number with them said invalid if i called it i get just voicemail. I googled this and many other people have fallen victim to this. It makes you call back the number and you are charged at a higher rate. The number is 07822 the first few digits but the actual number does not exist on the O2 network. Being careful from now on
