Had this problem a few times now.

Stuck my phone on charge last night, battery was about 14%. Woke up this morning, had a message ion the display saying charging error, or something, image of a battery with a red item on it, (Was still half asleep).

Unplugged, it hadn't charged, Lefgt it for a hour or two. Plugged it back in to charge, its now 2 hours later, battery hasn't charged, its now on 8%

Any ideas whats going on?

Was it showing charging on screen ?

May be the fault is with fastport. Loosen up may be. Check when you plug the charging pin, it straight away starts charging or you have to push a little the pin to start charging ? If so then i am afraid you have faulty fastport. If you are in warranty, show it to the se centre.

Sometimes when i plug the charger in, nothing happens, and i have to push opn it harder, or move it up and down a little for teh charging to kick in.

Is this a faulty fastport?

Yeah. Firstly try to clean the fastport with nongreasy, volatile solvent. Dont know its name. There is a thread here in esato for it. Search it.
If no luck with cleaning, then your fastport is loose. Get it done at se centre. Best of luck.

Edit- here you go.

The product is WD40.
Bennet, fisrt try to turn off the phone(with the charger plugged). Then, wait it turn on charging mode, then, press and hold end call button to initialize normal phone function. If it stills don't charging i think yours charger are broked.

Have you cleaned the fastport with toothpick?? I was also facing the same but now my fastport is working great without any pushes or up/down of charging pin.
