On my only 2 wks old White Aino, I today noticed 2 half moon shaped cracks on the front plastic, each 4 mm in height, in level with the speaker grid, on each side from the grid, aprox 7 mm's to the right and left side of the grid

Will try tomorrow to upload some detailed pics of the cracks..but here is a simple graphic:

) ------- (

where the ) and ( are the cracks and the ------- is the speaker grid.

Anyone else noticed the same problem?

cheers xatnep

Today I just noticed a crack on the right side next to the earpiece on my u10a. I've babied this phone, only had it a week. Never dropped. I'm not happy right now... this phone is expensive in the US

Why can these things happen with no abuse of the phone? Cracks appearing in something thats been looked after. I find it strange that companies dont test their products properly. I seen a You Tube video once of the type of tests Nokia put their phones through before they leave the factory for knocks and bumps even temperature. Does Sony Ericsson do this? Or do they test their phones by dropping them on soft cushions? Its poor. If its temperature changes that causes the cracks something needs to be done.

@xatnep: Can you post the pictures PLEASE. I have the same problem (SE AINO WHITE). I have a crack in the upper left side of the phone, where there is some kind of sensor (i think it is a sensor for the display, when you put phone on your ear, the display turns off). I also have 12 dead points on my screen. I'm very disappointed about SE!!!

I've tried to make some photos, but cant get enough close to make them visible in a macrophoto, but as I said in the first post it is 2 half moon shaped cracks on the front plastic, each 4 mm in height, just in level with the speaker grid, on each side from the grid, aprox 7 mm's to the right and left side of the grid.

Again is a simple graphic:

) ------ - (

where the ) and ( are the cracks and the ------ - is the speaker grid.

Looking in a microscope at the cracks its obvious they are modl cracks, but can also be caused by a HW mounting ie screws or silmilar on the backside. They have not been getting any bigger yet.

SE's Support response is:

"Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Call Center.

This is not a problem that has been reported before. To be able to have a crack on the phone fixed it needs to be sent to one of our service centers. To get your phone sent to one of our service centers we recommend you to contact your retailer. If the fault is not cause of a fabrication fault you can pay for the repair yourself to have the phone fixed.

Best regards,
