I am moving to the Seattle area this summer and most likely to Mill Creek north of Seattle.

Does anyone know how the coverage is there among the GSM providers AT&T, Cingular, and T-Mobile - especially T-Mobile as they have the best plans and I would like to stay with them.

I know Mill Creek is out of town but there must be some coverage...or?

This isn't a guarantee of coverage, but I did a drive around wa and I came up with the following concolusions (i live 30 mins south of Mill Creek):

T-Mobile has the best network in wa.
Cingular has the best coverage in wa.
ATT has the best i don't know what in wa (although unlimited GSM is sweet).

Cingular customers are able to roam to ATT in Wa, but not the other way around. This gives you the best coverage. I've not been able to roam off of T-Mobile's in wa, but I have to say that theirs is by far the best network in wa.

That said you should know a couple of things. Both ATTWS and T-Mobile have engineering groups in Wa - T-Mobiles in factoria (21miles from mill creek) and ATTWS in Bothell (7 miles from mill creek iirc - this is where their data engineering team is). Mill creek is by no means the boonies, so you should be able to expect good coverage from all the carriers there.

If I find myself driving to my grandparents anytime soon I'll hit Mill Creek on the way and verify coverage.

Hey Ama,

I went bye my grandparents today, and while I didn't get a chance to go into Mill Creek I did go right bye it. On my way up I had a T-Mob sim, which had good coverage in the area, and on the way back I had a cingular sim in my phone which also had pretty good coverage. I suspect ATT also had decent coverage in that area. If you're still looking to move to the area I think anyone of the three carrier would work - but you should look at the specific area of town you'll be in to see which carrier has the best coverage in the areas you'll be in most.

highrez> thank you very much for your coverage testing. I am glad to hear that there is coverage and I would like to stay with T-Mobile as I like their plans the best.

Mahalo!

I'm back with this thread.

I am thinking of switching to Cingular since from my recent apartment switch I seem to have landed in a T-Mobile dead spot.

Does anyone know how good Cingular coverage is in Mill Creek/Bothell/Everett area north of Seattle, Washington????

Thanks!

Just FYI:

I got a Cingular pre-paid card and it turns out they have better coverage in Mill Creek than T-Mobile. That was a surprise. Guess I'm switching to Cingular - too bad they are more expensive.
