According to T3 news release the satio will need more than a flash to fix current problems and will need to be recalled.

Don't know how accurate this is but it certaintly puts a different slant on things if true

So what they mean about more than firmware update? Is this true for all satios or just for the faulty ones? Do we all have to go to a service point? Now im worried if the newfirmware by itself dont solve the few problems of my satio

That sounds somewhat unlikely. Of course, we'll know after the update arrives - but I really can't see what hardware problem there is.

In my experience, a number of people will pretend the phone is faulty (even damaging the phone) if they don't like it and want to get something else or a refund.

the article doesnt mention anything about a recall, just says it wil require more than a simple patch

I am also not very convinced by the report. I am having a feeling thaty there is some kind of negative publicity going on by a group. If you watch carefully, non of the service providers are projecting the phone by themselves, which happens normally. On the contrary, SE themselves is pushing the phone on the market and they are spending a lot to ush the phone.

The article is just a nice polished presentation of the previous news of CarphoneWarehouse withdrawing the phone due to buggy software.

These withdrawls are also pre-empted I feel.

I also agree with one my previous blogger, that I donot see much hardware problem other than battery consumption. This also I feel is corectable by firmware as SE did in the past with K800 and K850.

Lets wait and watch what SE fixes with the new frimware.

maybe people are reporting software problems because they are trying to install unsigned and non-compatible apps. because of the lack of genuine Satio software.

just watched the Satio advert being screened on tv again,s.e. seem to still pushing it very hard as dipb said so must be very confident that any problems will be resolved soon or the adverts would be pulled.

I dont think the intelligence of Joe Public is that high they would seek to install none-compatible apps on the phone. Besides, if the apps are made for a N97 or other similar handset a simple error message is displayed on the phones screen.

Basically my thinking is this. The Satio like many other phones was buggy when first released. Also quite likely is early stockists of the handset like CPW and P4U possibly purchased large amounts of faulty units. Software and/or hardware. That would explain why some people have very few if any problems, and others have large amounts of bugs, hangs or hardware failure. I got my Satio on 22/10/09, a week or two after release, from CPW. Its possible mine was of a fresh delivery of Satio phones (since the phones had sold out where i live until i got mine), whereas the original batches received by the retailers were the faulty ones.

I think SE can be very proud of the Satio. I love mine. Not quite as much as i did my N95 8gb from day one but it has all the functions i need and use. Ive stopped carrying 2 phones around with me now. So its doing something right for me !

There have been other handsets with problems, but I do wonder if part of the spreading of this story is down to more tech sites reporting it (sorry, re-quoting and rewriting the same story), Twitter spreading the news or simply a rival making sure to get the story into the mainstream press.

I was half expecting news of the Satio's withdrawal to make it onto the BBC News and Sky News as 'breaking news'. Many papers covered this, which seems unheard of. I guess the difference here was that Richard Dorman actually confirmed the withdrawal. Had he not, I doubt many papers would have covered it as it would have merely come down to the word of (then) Carphone Warehouse who may well have been out of stock or simply didn't make enough on the phone and wanted to push something else.

As it stands; the Satio is now highlighted as having issues and it's important for SE to try and convince people when it returns that all issues are solved. I wish them luck, but it's going to be an uphill battle.

(I too doubt that it has anything to do with unsigned apps!)

This article is bulls**t
-T3 is a Apple bought magazine(but of course they don't say it loudly)
-Majority of bugs are S60v5 related
-No Hardware bugs so far,so as there are software bugs they can be repaired by Software updates
-My sole bug is the Theme Style, apart that it just need some improvements like louder ringtones, sync ringtones with the calls...
