Can somebody please help me.

I would like to know exactly how to convert my mpg and avi files to *.mp4, can anybody please help me step by step naming what software to use to convert or please post a link that can help me?

I am very sorry but I can't seem to be able to find the quick time 6 pro? Can someone highlight?!
