Or apparently not "?" according to Gizmodo
LEAK: The Google Phone "Is a Certainty"
If true demonstrates the potential danger of cozying up to closely to Google with Android, ask Garmin and Tom-Tom how they're feeling at the moment.
Obviously far from certain but is not first speculation/undercurrent about this. If true it may be that Google could be overreaching themselves and by their activity galvanise rivals and organisations that perceive they might be threatened next by another new direction from Google into some meaningful opposition (Rupert Murdoch/Microsoft). Could also prove to be a possible saviour for Symbian which after all despite all it's faults is genuinely open. SE and others (apart from maybe Motorola who are so far in already) have a tricky ballancing act coming up.
Bet dropping UIQ not looking quite so smart now to Bert.

There's been talk about a Google phone for a long time - a smartphone with free calling, txts and data subsidised by ads.
I can't see that the networks would go for that sort of business model because it would require unlimited data and that is getting less and less popular among the networks. I can understand an ad supported UI from Google's point of view but what is the upside for us? It'll be interesting to see if this is more than mere rumour.
I don't think

have anything to worry about. UIQ is dead and Symbian will follow. It'll be Android v iPhone OS with WM, WebOS and Maemo carving little niches, IMHO.
