Sorry if this has been discussed before. Couldn't find it!
I was "playing" with a P800 in school today!
Is it me or do you also find the Poly sound way to low in volume?
I was chocked when i saw that the volume was max...
A friend of mine had a 7650 there, and we compared the sound. Sorry guys, but the Nokias sound was much louder...is there a way to increase the volume? There must be... I love SE...

You mean 7650 is louder? Any comments guys? My wife owns a 7650 and tones a too soft cant hardly hear inside car with the radio on. Hope wav tones are louder tho?

I have experienced the same problem on my Nokia 7210 (Gonna get the p800, as soon as it comes to Norway), but only on some ringtones that I converted. So i think it depends on the midi you are converting?
In some Norwegian reviews of the p800 that i have read it actually gets very good marks for the loudness of the ringingtones. So it should be louder than the 7650.

Downloads are of differing volume levels i have found, as there are several different volume adjustments on the phone, you might find that if you want it very loud for a ring tone you may have to adjust that in "calls" "edit" "prefferances" "sounds & alerts" "ring volume".

Well, I just had one quick look at the phone, so I just posted my experience... =)
I did just adjust the main volume. Well, as you say, there are more ways to increase the volume.
The Polys that was to low, were thoose that is included.
But as you say guys, there are more ways to adjust the volume...

For simple .wav files, I just increased the volume of the file itself using the Creative Mixer program. Musicmatch can do this too i think.

I find there is a difference between file types and songs. Sometimes it is really loud and sometimes not. In general, I think the volume is good on my P800.

First of all... a small clarification... the SE T300 has better MIDI capabilities than the P800. The T300 has 24 note wavetable, polyphony...while the P800 has 16 note FM synthesis polyphony.
I don't really care much for fancy ringtones... so it doesn't bother me that I can't play the entire 3 min song before picking up the call.
Second, WAV files recorded at 11kHz 8-bit mono are VERY loud on the P800. 22kHz is fine, but 11 is the easiest to hear in a crowd.
Third, IMY ringtones from the T68i are EMBARRASSINGLY loud.
Fourth, MIDI volume depends on how the MIDI was composed... each instrument can be adjusted in a MIDI editing software like Cakewalk. If you're too lazy to edit your MIDIs...tough.
Fifth, the MULTIMEDIA volume on the P800 is NOT the ringtone volume. Ringtone volume is controlled under Phone, Preferences, Sounds & Alerts.
and last... PLEASE!!! NO MORE KETCHUP SONG RINGTONES!!! HAHAHAHA!!!! Just kidding... if you like the song, go ahead and use it!!! Hehehehehehe!

My wife has a 7650 too and it is definitely much louder than my P800, using the same midi and wav files on both phones. I've been wanting to hook up with someone with another P800 to check whether there is something wrong with my speaker. Also, the P800 speaker seems to break up (distortion) more than the 7650 when using midi tones which I've edited to to make the instruments louder (7650 better low frequency output).
One thing I,ve noticed though, the P800 plays the files louder when the phone is actually ringing than when your are just listening to them with the audio app.
Is there something wrong with my P800?
