Got a couple of SE T715 as an upgrade ...Both of them are from 3 UK (one pink and one grey) ..and I take out 3 branding on one of them ...sorry that I didn't have much time to do a more extensively review as a customer bought the phone later already after I unlocked & debranded it & did that small review
3 Branded SE T715 Vs Generic SE T715
Main benefit I notice:
* Remove THREE startup logo or other WAP / GPRS settings
* Enable the 2G (GSM) / 3G (Dual mode) selection function
Enable the 2G (GSM) / 3G (Dual mode) selection function where you see 3 Branded T715 disabled
I use the phone on 2G everyday. Even 2G is slower in internet browser, but 2G network still offers a better coverage than 3G. Also, very important, running the phone on 2G consume less power, it means battery last longer.
Why 3 UK disables that function ? because 3 UK doesn't have the 2G network, they borrow the 2G network from O2 & Orange, so for every minute you call from 2G network, O2 / Orange will charge 3 UK for that. That's why they don't prefer you to run the phone on 2G unless it's necessary (in area which has no 3G coverage).
Personally, if I need to use my phone for internet, then I will go to the menu and change it back to 3G mode, but better coverage and battery life are things major to me as I don't use phone for internet much.
A few extra games in generic firmware in SE T715 , but none in the 3 branded T715.
