Samsungs Takes Nokia's UK Topspot
December 15, 2009
By Devika Sen-Gupta
Sustained period as number one handset manufacturer will crown Samsung as king at Christmas
Samsung has had a sustained tilt at the UK number one spot with a 30 per cent share of the UK market over two months. It has taken Nokia’s leadership position in the UK during the period, and holds it off approaching the last two shopping weeks of 2009.
Samsung has run as number two to Nokia in the market in the year to date. Nokia has dropped prices significantly in the past weeks, and in-store marketing in high street independent and network retailers has ramped up.
Despite software issues with its headline Satio and Aino, which forced retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U to pull the Satio from shelves at the end of last month and squeezed sales, Sony Ericsson has held off LG as UK number three.

Nooooo oh my god changes are abound

Mind you it was only a matter of time when Samsung predict and manage to sell 10 million Tocco Lite phones in less than a year. Same with LG with the Cookie. They certainly know the market. Well done to them. Is this the first time someone has knocked Nokia off the top?

Hope samsung can sustain this. they need to be more responsive in terms of software upgrades.
For SE, let's see how long they can maintain the no. 3 spot in the UK.
