Hi,

I recently bought a Sony Ericsson Aino. Most of the features are great. Not liking the way they've stripped the camera features away

Anyway, I gave it a firmware update as soon as i got it (sometime last month) and I'm not sure if they need to update some things because I've been having some problems with mine.

With the Facebook app, whenever I run it in the standby screen, my friends' statuses will show up. If I log out or switch the phone off, then go on the app again, it wont show any statuses. A message saying "None of your friends statuses are available". The only way I've found to fix this problem is, if I take the battery out, then switch the phone off and run the Facebook app. This is frustrating.

The next problem is that I've found the touch-screen features to be non-responsive, sometimes. Like, if I slide the phone closed, and attempt to unlock it by sliding across my finger (to access the media functions), it wont respond!

Finally, a really big problem that bugs me so, so much: whenever I receive a text message, it always appears as a "New Event". On all of my old Sony Ericssons' T610, V600, K800, K810 and C902 - I would get a pop-up menu saying:

"Text Message received from: Amy"
"Read Now? Yes No"

If that contact had a picture assigned to them, it would also show up. This doesn't occur on the Aino. Another reason why it really gets to me is that, if you have a new message received and it appears via a "new event" - part of the text message can be read. There's not even an option like the other SE phones to have new events appear as either a pop-up or a new event.

Has anyone else had either of these problems? Does anyone know how to fix this? Will there be a new firmware update to sort this out?

Do you run R7AA071 then? Isn't the facebook app removed from that FW version? I dont have it anyway...or have you reinstalled this? I guess if they do have problems with facebook it will be back when everything is solved. My touch-screen works without any problems, responds great. My only issue with Aino is the poor connection acting as a BT 3G modem to my laptop, its keeps disconnecting after a short time. My c902 works great here.

It's wierd that Aino doesn't have option like other SE phones for new events. Perhaps it's just your current firmware?

I got my wife the Aino for Christmas and so far this is what she's experiencing:

Latest firmware for our region, Middle East, R1BA049.

There's no option to turn on/off the pop-up activity menu. Pretty much the same issue you stated. If this could be turned off, then when a msg is rx'd, we might see the contact's assigned pic, msg tone, and a portion of the msg. Maybe? There's a hardware button assigned specifically for the activity menu, why have it pop-up all the time

No option to switch between threaded or regular SMS view.

No option for screen timeout, i.e. 10sec, 15sec, 30sec, etc.

Sometimes when ending a call there's a warning about no cipher available.

Also, applications which require internet connectivity should prompt you asking which data connection you'd like to use. Either your mobile internet, wi-fi, etc. Currently you can't tell which it's using. Or at the very least, add an option in the settings where you can define primary/secondary data connections to use.

Yes, I too would like to have the contact picture, like I used to. And I agree that you should have options like 'view threaded sms or view standard' let alone 'view as pop up or new events'. I have emailed Sony Ericsson (UK) about this via their website. This was the reply that I got:

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson support centre.

We are sorry to hear of the issue you are having with the Sony Ericsson Aino.

In order to turn this feature to a different settings follow the steps below:

1. Menu

2.Settings

3.General

4.Select new events

5. If it is set to Pop-up then select Activity menu, if not then select Pop-up.

We apologise for any inconviences.

Kind Regards,

Sony Ericsson UK Customer Services

The only problem there, is that there is no "New Events" option in the General settings. They used to have it for all other Sony Ericsson phones.

In the list of threads just hit left/right to switch tabs. It'll change the option in the messages menu at the same time.
