I am getting really pissed off now - almost 3 weeks ago I bought a T68i on monthly O2 100 contract with pay as you use GPRS from Carphone Warehouse and ported my number from Orange (big mistake). Despite phoning the miserable excuse for a Customer Service facility that is the CPW O2 "help" centre, I still do not have access to GPRS for Wap, email or internet with my ipaq. I have set up a GPRS data account and pop3 settings and checked it several times with the monkeys, sorry customer service people.

I now have the mythical blue triangle but have been told for the last 3 days that "O2 GPRS is down in the UK" at the moment and that it will all work when they fix it. Does anyone know if this is complete bollocks or not? Also, should I just accept that I cannot have MMS as I cannot face speaking to the call centre again. (Phoned a few minutes ago and they told me "I don't have GPRS on my account" even tho I have just spent 2 weeks talking to the data team about it!!!).

Does it make any difference if you are on the pay as you use GPRS or one of the bundles - I am happy to switch if it gets the F%^%^%$ thing working. HELP!

This is pretty grim. I would approach another provider (like Orange or Vodafone) and tell them the situation and see what they suggest. Everyone is so desperate for customers that they might well make you an offer.

I use Vodafone and though I have a monthly subscription for GPRS, you can also get billed for what you use too.

I know what you mean about being pissed off... I remember trying to set up international roaming on Orange. And the next week, I was with Vodafone...

The only way these companies learn is by bitter experience and if you make it clear to them that you will take your custom elsewhere, then they are more likely to act.

GPRS is working on O2 because i use it every day. Still can not get MMS and GPRS but i am moving to Orange. I think that O2 go out and try to recruit people that know nothing about mobile phones and have no intelligence. Sorry but i have spoken to them over 20 times and each time they say that GPRS and MMS do not work togther. This even though i have seen it working on a O2 phone. Ah well Orange here i come.

Thanks Guys

At least I know they are lying now. How did you eventually get it to work - I phone up every day and have tried complaining, being nice, talking to the data team. I just phoned up again now after seeing your messages and was told that the GPRS network was definitely down and whoever said it wasn't was lying - what can you do?

Unfortunately, going back to Orange (who I was very happy with) or another provider is not much of an option as the whole point of this godamn exercise was to get on O2 so that in 3 months I can switch to my company corporate O2 account so I don't have to put in expense claims for business calls and get subsidised line rental.

GRRRRR - any hints on how to get this ssorted much appreciated.

hi mate. i work in a mobile shop and i've just rung o2 to see if there's a problem. the gprs network is working, but they are having big problems with getting newly connected phones onto the network.
unfortunately, it would seem as if someone has got hold of half the truth, and passed it onto you accordingly.

FINALLY, got wap over GPRS working - I changed setting from conn oriented to connectionless on my t68i and it works - I guess GPRS must be a connectionless protocol - tho nobody at CPW o2 knew that despite saying they al had t68i's ..

Now I need to get email and web access via BT to my PDA working - any tips? I know I have to download some software for from the o2 site for mobile web. I have tried putting my pipex email pop3 details in but no luck so far - it should work with any pop3 settings shouldn't it?

I have a SE T610.

Been trying to get MMS & WAP on my phone now for nearly 3 weeks... everytime I ring, they give me some sh*t about needing to reset the GPRS, everytime they reset I have to wait 24hrs to see if it works.

I rang to today, they said it wasn't activated... I pointed out I rang 24hrs earlier and they said it was!!! He practically admitted the previous guy had lied!!!!!!!!! what the f*ck???

Orange.... here I come.

O2 really are run by morons...

Anyone got a SE T610 on O2 with MMS & WAP???
