Hi, I just purchased a c905i unlocked version. I currently have t-mobile service, however I somehow cannot get the wifi to work. I've tried a couple different networks, but they don't seem to work..

And also, I also don't know how to send picture messages.. it tells me to set up some sort of account.

Anyone can help me? Thanks!

About the wifi... You may be trying to access some protected network. Try free hotspot (usualy located in restaurants and cafe bars) and see what happens. Also turning of any "power saving" options in the "settings" menu may help (especially if the wifi has such option)...

And about the picture messages (a.k.a. mms) you should visit some of your operator shops around. They have the parameters for your phone for sure. There may be a need of using proxy server and etc. so they should be the only one knowing it's ip adress, passwords and etc...

I figured out the mms thing.
but still can't get wifi to work.
I've tried multiple hotspots. Many at my apartment complex. Nothing shows up, even though there are 3+ routers in the vicinity. Also doesn't work anywhere on my school's campus. We have wifi throughout the school, but no cigar.
My mac adress is 00.0000 00 etc...
is that the reason?
if so.. how do i fix it?

Sony Ericsson automatically download network settings for mms and internet if missing. If you try sending a message or connect it tells you the settings are missing then you click ok and it downloads them

For a firmware update visi http://www.sonyericsson.com and search the support section. You should be able to find Update Service (a.k.a SEUS). With it, you should be able to easily update your phone software (firmware) to the latest version. Also, the program has guide with pictures as you use it so you shouldn't have any problem using it...

P.S. If you plan updating the firmware, do a backup of your phone stuff first. Contacts, messages, tasks, calendar entries and etc. can be easily backed up using MPE (My Phone Explorer) which can be found on this forum (or google.com ).

- Remove memory stick while updating so the files on it don't get affected.

That may be for newer models and some world known and famous networks (if the provider/network has included information about profiles in the SIM card)... In a smaller countries (like mine for e.g.) that is not possible.

my sony ericsson doesn't automatically download network settings. I don't have internet/edge/3g or whatever tmobile offers.

Also, if i upgrade my firmware through sonyericsson.com, does it matter if it's the c905a version or c905i?

I have the c905i, international one hmm.

Visit here for internet setting:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/c[....]opic/internet/c905?cc=gb&lc=en

Firmware upgrade, as far as I remember, the upgrade software on PC can detect whether it's a or i and get the correct firmware for your phone.
