Are you in an area of poor 3G coverage? If so turn 3G off in the settings menu. Go to settings then mobile networks and select GSM only. This may improve your signal. I generally find most of Sony Ericsson latest phones all have terrible signal.

Hummm...this problem sounds fimilar as i had the same problem a while ago when trying to connect on my mobile internet via Orange's 3G/HSDPA and kept getting "Communication Error. Please check settings" but it worked ok on GPRS/2G. MMS was ok but my boy-friend found sometimes it was not either sent or received on his W995 and the video calling was not affected. I think it may had something to to with a firmware bug that affected certain handsets the C902, C905, W995 and a few others which i can't remember.
I rang up Orange Techinical Support and they explained that Sony Ericsson was doing something to thier software which somehow affected the connection from 2G the 3G network so therefore not able to use the 3G/HSDPA services for internet. They told me the that Sony Ericsson would releasing another firmware update and to be advisable to update the handset firmware via SEUS which should fix the problem. I orginally had R1DA30 on my C905 and updated it to R1FA035 and also my C510 from R1DA029 to R1HA035 and i not had a problem connecting on 3G/HDSPA since. I only thought it affected the Orange network, as when i tried my T-Mobile PAYG it also connected ok via their 3G.
I suggest try updating your firmware as and see if that helps.
Regards,

yep same hear travelled the lenghth and breadth of the country and have not managed to get that magical h on my orange c902 which is unbranded and has the latest firmware. also when doing a network search it does not say any other network is avilable ewith the h. Are we missing something or does it just not want to change as any other handset in the exact same location with orange shows it cheers.
