That's very interesting they axed the C and W995 series in favour of phones like Satio as they had that many returns with bugs. Android was supposed to get rid of the W series seems that failed badly and SE completely got the market wrong. I'm in the UK and W995's are everywhere it's almost as popular as the K800i. I guess Aino and Yari failed bad with Satio's also being returned.

The article says mid market £100 phones though and mentions more than one. Surely they won't waste time with 'W705' phones with 3.2 mega pixel cameras and just small features?

We know the W995 has done fantastic so give us an upgrade. 12MP sensor? 8MP with xenon flash? VGA video recording? 2"8 inch or 3" screen? They won't even dent the market with cheapo W series phones. If the W995 has lead sales they need an obvious upgrade.

I'm holding off if they release a crap phone I'll get an Iphone a new one when it gets released in June. Had a Satio but never again I won't be buying any SE touch phones or LG. What SE has done is go for the LG/Samsung/Iphone market and left all the SE fans buying phones like the W995 with the some trying Satio. They got it all wrong as people like SE for Cybershot and Walkman that's what they are about.

So this seems good news that the W series will stay. Stick to what your good at SE I think they got the market all wrong..they have a line of new phones and they look AWFUL seriously I'd never use one even if I got it for free. Vivaz wanna be Samsung and LG's really ugly cheap looking phones. So anyway W995 UPGRADE or an Iphone it's down to SE and what they release.

Interesting news.

Unfortunately SE cannot afford to have an all feature phone line up as this is the product range that has led to them having six conscutive losing quarters (they can't afford many more - and I'm pretty sure April announcement will be another loss) so they are trying to develop smartphone (you may not want them but it's the major expansionary sector in mobile phones whilst feature phones are in small decline) and after their recent finacial results and cut backs they don't have the resources to release large numbers of Walkmans, Cybershots, EU's, Xperias etc. and make them work - too many OS's to juggle.

They're in a bit of a dilema - stickk to what they've been doing for the last 4 years and which they do OK ie feature phones which you're asking for but they've been losing money at for the last 2years nearly or try and develop new ranges which means they don't have resources to do other stuff.

Your call

Reliability, poor OS and poor build quality cost the satio though (a few of there other models got recalled too). Different problems so when SE release there figures I expect Satio has been a major loss.

The W995 has been most reliable. If they work on this platform they might make solid sales in the future.

So what specs does everybody want to see on these new walkmans?

I have a feeling it's low range they must have spent there budget on Smart phones..if it's low range it's Iphone time for me bye bye SE.

I agree, and thats why I just picked up a backup C905, as I think they will be pretty hard to find soon as brand new and not refurbished.
C905 does everything I could ever want in a phone. I hate touch phones or any phone you need 2 hands to operate.

Man, but i would love a slim W995 with 12mp sensor, and xenon flash, but i think there is ZERO chance that would ever happen.
