> Please convince my son about water damage
Bookmark topic
Hi folks, I'm asking for a couple of minutes of your time here. A certain son of mine going by the name of mini luchador on here is determined to swap his 5800 for another phone and he's been offered a Blackberry Storm on Gumtree. Now, given the considerable price difference I have told him that there will probably be something wrong with the storm. So he has admitted that apparently the screen has a few spots of water under it, but he's still convinced it's a good trade.
He won't listen to me regarding the future possibility of failure with liquid ingress, so I am asking any of you who can to drop him a PM or respond here to let him know if he'd be foolish to trade.
Thanks
JL

FIRST: why would him want to trade a phone with some little damages? The water is not one of the best friends of electronic devices.
SECOND: there should be others deals going on here or outside here where he could get a storm.
THIRD: read the FIRST and maybe you won't be regretting it later.

Water damage voids any form of warranty because it's like getting a leg fracture- it will never be 100% fully functional as before ever again and can only get worse with age. I should know since I've suffered both(water damage + leg fracture)

Some phones can work 100% still after a soak! I once dropped a samsung d6 00 in the bath once and it was in there a gud ole 5mins as the water was scoulding lol! Maybe ur soon should just keep his existing phone and go with what fatreg says by it

Water damage often takes time to take affect, it slowly corrodes the circuits, and evently after a few months the phone will be completly dead beyond repair, i had a mate who dropped his w550 in the bath, he let it dry and it worked fine for a couple more months, then it completey died also the battery almost exploded when i looked at the battery it was badly deformed, probley from where it got wet and was charged up again.

Yes, I agree. He really should know better as he had a w850 a while back and it never really recovered from Robinsons Fruit Shoot juice immersion. I also remember the battery nearly exploding, it swelled up when charging and popped the battery cover off! He's off the storm idea now, so I think all your comments have helped, thanks.
