Hey fellas!

I've been using the Satio for the last months and I've been happy with it. It has an overall good build quality, nice UI and and impressive camera, even though the lack of sharpness and those boring smooth edges. However, I was flirting for some time the Nokia E72 and I decided to give it a try. I enjoy its build quality, size and qwerty. The only drawback in the swap would be the camera, or so I thought (the xenon flash is, obviously)... Before I sell the Satio, I had to do a photo comparison!

And well, this comparison seems to be pointless and I'm sure everyone thinks that the Satio will perform much better. So did I until I came home, gathered the pics and started comparing them.

Before the comparison please note that:

- The first is from Satio
- Full auto in all photos
- Satio photos: 12MP
- E72 photos: 5MP
- Flash: Off
- Image stablizer: Off
- All photos were taken with my hands as still as I could. Different shutter speeds in the same light conditions may cause blurriness and I'll also consider that since it may be important for the photo quality.
- Nokia E72 does not have lens protector and I just cleaned its' lenses a couple times during this. Its photos may suffer the consequences of some dust or grease in the optics.
- Satio is updated to the latest generic firmware
- E72 was not updated yet and is branded to T-Mobile (I'm waiting for the unlocking code ;f )

What do you think? Is there a 7mp size difference here? Curiously, in some cases, the E72 photos became with a bigger size than the Satio's...

You can check all the comparison photos I took here. In these photos, the "s" means that they are from Satio and the "e" that they are from the E72. In the underscored photos "e0001_1" I've increased the sharpness level to "hard".

Post your feedback.

Nice comparison, it seems the E72 beat the SATIO on every pic there, especially on the cactus picture
pictures from the E72 seem to have much more sharpness and contrast, looking forward to seeing more pics

I can't see that much of a difference to be honest, however, IMO the E72 gets my vote from those pics

If the first pic is made by Satio, only the last have what you said...
In all other,Satio gives better results and colors.

IMO the satio is better,
look at the 'cactus' (is it a cactus?) and the shadow of that guy picture,
shadows area are "brighter" in satio pic, which means Satio covers good range of highlights and shadows..

also the blue sky is nicer in Satio pics..

Nice comparison Zide.
But e72 wasn't better in any light situation... The only "problem" on pics taken with Satio was the EV.(that would give you the desired contrast)
The Satio's sensor is a lot better even without Carl Zeiss lenses.

In my humble opinion, and considering the MP difference, I must say that the E72 produces an overall better auto-mode picture quality. The photos get a lil bit over saturated but nicely warm and pleasant to the eye, and a hell crispier than the ones from Satio, due to the higher contrast and sharpness levels; still, it manages quite well the noise levels. Of course that the images in Satio have more details that can be seen when zooming and it performs better in low light situations because of its higher dynamic range (it is not a huge difference though).

I got impressed by the E72 camera quality. I heard that it would be a only a bit better than the E71 but their difference is huge and it is, without a doubt, amoung the best 5MP performers.

@ Luhccas - The E72 does not have Carl Zeiss optics!
The Carl Zeiss thing is nothing more than a brand and it does not assure "top" quality... The best 5MP camera from Nokia (and in the market to the date) does not have them, which is the 6700 Classic. And you have phones like the 5800xm, with CZ optics, that just suck.

That's just saturation which is down to your personal preference. I would say Nokia is better in everything except for saturation.
