I'm on windows 7 and the first time I transfered avi files to my satio it would convert the avi files to mp4 and transfer them. But now, it does not do that. Anyone know whats up?

I did not know there was such functionality built in into windows. File transfers in windows usually are transparent, i.e. no conversions are made whatsoever when copying or moving a file from one drive to another. Are you sure you didn't use MediaGo the first time?

That program does such conversions, even though it takes a considerable much longer time to transfer the file that way, due to the conversion.

Use Format Factory instead and choose Mobile Devices and Sony Ericsson Satio

No need to convert in most cases. If the problem is you have avi files that won't play on Satio, then use YAMB to repackage the video as an MP4. Takes 2 minutes (you are not converting but simply transferring the video and audio stream from the original avi file into an mp4 container).

This way even divx will play on satio.

Just use free video conv, you can get it by googling or on download.com.
My fave is any video converter, it can cut too

I think it's the PC Suite that installs some plugin that does that, so you need that installed first. It does take a lot of time, and it even just stops for me usually.
