Hi all,
I'm in a good mood and have one to get rid of, so I thought, erm, ESATO!.

The usual boring stuff:
You must have been a member here for over 3 months and must have had over 50 (non-pointless i.e. garbage thread) posts. I will pull a name from the hat after I have 20 names.

Remember, almost ALL magazines rate Kasperksy for the price (not a problem for the winner anyway), high detection rate, speed (compared to Norton anyway) and easy-to-useness.

Put your entry in the thread, and if its there's not 20 by Sunday night, then I'll do a playtime style thing!

The average price for this new is around £15, and its £22 on Amazon!

Cheers

I don't trust that after my friend still managed to get his bank details cloned, after he installed it from a fresh install.

The reason I don't use free Anti-Virus' packages, is the free part. Microsoft/Avast! do the best job at it, but the thing is if there is not as much funding for the product to do hourly updates (like KIS/KAV), then why should they. There can't be angry customers, because no-body is paying for a service. These companies make most of their funding money out of advertising, which as I know from my small portfolio of 8 websites, brings pence usually.

I will always use Kasperksy, it doesn't bog your PC down, the firewall is fantastic and the detection rate is higher than any other.

I got given an old PC, so I got hold of a keylogger, and tried out 4 AV's:
AVG Internet security 9 - didn't detect
Avast! Pro Antivirus - detected but couldn't remove
Norton Internet security 2010 - didn't detect
Kasperksy internet security 2010 -detected, cleaned, and also a non-vunerable backup is made in case it is not a virus, can't ask for better than that.

Hope I've helped explain

Some free av's are actaully quite good, and just slimed downed versions of the paid for 1's, just lacking the junk you don't actually need, i use avira free edition and have never had any trouble with viruses since using it, rootkits and some keyloggers are difficult to detect and remove even for paid for suites, i would never ever enter any card/bank details on my windows pc its just a dumb thing to do, i always use my n97 since no data stealing viruses exist for it and it can handle the ssl encription the sites use.
