Sometimes i'm wondering why i should buy the newest and coolest phone there is.. They realy cost a lot now.. and i think most people don't use the full 100 % of there phone anyway.. including me..
oke colour screen is cool.. themore colour the cooler it is.. camera is nice.. listen mp3's on the road..whatch a movie.. browe's the internet..
But i have a pc at home, that also can do that and more.. i have a digicam to make photo's.. etc.
A phone was designed to call.. nowdays it's a pocketpc that can call..
with a kinds of technoligy on board..
i know it's cool to make a picture and then show it to friends to get fancy, and play a 3d game on a "mobile" but is it wourth it all..
i know i'm not getting anywhere with this..
but in my case, i don't get a lot of calls or stuff.. i spreak friends on msn or at a disco, so why pay for a divice you don;t need.. sure it looks cool, and i want it.. that;s the problem of it.. most people are gadget freaks
they want the newest and coolest stuff..
can;t realy axplane it in english but you get te point i hope....

Damn right! It's addiction of a serious type and it costs a lot. I feel this uncontrollable urge to buy every single top model that comes out despite knowing that I will not need most of the fancy features. I am in need of expert psychological assistance!

Yup, for instance my parents both have bought T68i, although they use only phonebook, SMS (rarely) and alarm. They've paid a lot of money just because of the screen and \"sexy\" ;) design. Well, I've decided I won't replace mine with P800. Not because it's such a brick ;) but 'cause I already have the functionality I need using T68+MCA25+Palm. Moreover, I've decided I'll probably stay with that until 2004. I hope so ;)

why YOU buy it is your own choice. I, for one, was debating on whether or not to get the P800, or a PDA. I had a T68i and I was happy with it. But I needed SOME PDA functions.
I wouldn't recommend the P800 to everyone... heavy PDA users, or people who don't always need their PDA would prefer a split solution.
Mild PDA users (like myself) or people who need an all-in-one solution would get the P800
People who do nothing more than text and call... obviously wouldn't get it... (my friend is selling his P800 cuz he finds it too complicated, he's sticking with his Nokia 8310)
So just cuz the latest phone is out, that doesn't mean you should but it! Some people think the T300 is an 'upgrade' to the T68i since it's newer... it isn't. And the P800 isn't an 'upgrade' to the T68i either... the P800 is the successor of the R380.
Buy & keep the phone that meets YOUR needs. If you need a lifestyle phone (T28, T68, T600) then the P800 is not for you. If you need a performance phone (R520, R380, P800)... then get the P800. If you need a cheap phone, there's the T100, 200 and 300.
Just cuz someone gets the T600, doesn't mean it's inferior to the P800. Just get what you want.

well w/e.. I dont see n e thing wrong in getting a T68i over a T200 or a Nokia 6100 over a 8310..
now I cant stand looking at monochrome screens.. it hurts my eyes..
and to a certain extent, when I got the T68i after the P800.. I cld see the lack of colors..
the only reason I use my T68i is cuz I can take it places I dont want to take my P800 (clubs, simple outtings, bad part of town, or to a friend's house)...
I'm the kind of guy who uses whatever the phone offers..
ie: T68i, I dont hv a camera, and I didnt buy one cuz I dont care for it.. P800, I use my cam everyday!
but there r something I wldnt sacrifice n e more.. like standard stuff..
I wld never go back to a monochrome screen.. EVER..
I never go back on technology.. only forward (with the exception of the T68i, the only phone I went back on cuz I needed BT, color, small and tri: nokia cant help me there)...
but wld I call my phones superior to someone else's? hell YEAH! I do it all the time when ppl bad mouth my superior tech..
I've even told some guy that my P800 is worth more than his life.. but he really pissed me off..

My solution to this quandry was to buy a secondhand p8 import well before it is available in the UK, this way i could try it for month.
If i find it too big or over complex/fragile then i could sell it on at about the same money & that way i would know for sure if it was the phone for me. It IS the phone for me so i`m keeping it.
Everything in life is a balance between;
SIZE / BENEFITS / PRICE & RUNNING COSTS
With a p8 i find the benefits outway the other two.

Greetings!
I have a SERIOUS "buy-the-ultra-cool-phone" urge... I've managed to cope with it and sometimes I slap myself when this urges overcomes me!
For the times being, I think my t68i suites me fine, but that URGE hit me again when I first saw the P800
If I had the money I would buy it in no time! But since I don't have the enough money, I'll buy it anyway
dispise the utility factor...
I'm not a heavy PDA user, nor a heavy mob phone user. I just like tehc stuff. It's that little thing that all humans are bound to be: insatisfation or greed.
Probably I don't need a P800, but I have to have one! Damm those marketeers at
Go figures...

@necrosis, As Aikonoklast said your probaably better off with a seperate good quality cam,PDA, & phone. but only if you don`t mind carrying it all.
For me (previously T68i/Ipaq bluetooth 3870 user) i find the main benefit is that p8 DOES do it all quite well, the camera is nowhere near as good as an average digicam, but it`s ALWAYS with you which is handy.
The p8 is a fantastic companion to your laptop.
AND A FANTASTIC GADGET.
