Hi there. Sorry for opening a new topic, but i just recieved a Satio (6 hours ago) and i'm a wreck at this moment. In that 6h i only managed to sync my phone (after alot of google, anger, nerves) contacts.. What i need now is some help with:
Images - i have (i had in previous phones) a folder named Contacts, where i keep the contact pictures (u know.. when i set it as contact picture.. 1 fore every person in my list). Problem is i dont know where to put it, so that it wont show up in media. I also have a folder named wallpapers, with some (guess what...?) wallpapers. I put both folders in images folder on the memory card... it showed up in media, and some (5 of 100) showed up on the shortuc in the home screen (the picture home screen). So 5 of my contact pictures showed up there, rest in media. I need some info about CORRECTLY positioning files on the SATIO. I dont want the contact pictures to show up in media. Thats all.. Where do i need to put them? I also tryed "others" like on my G900... but the Satio finds them there too.. And my head aches already.. It's new OS and alot different than UIQ or A200..
So where do:
1. pictures go that i want to show up in the media and in the home screen picture tab (but i guess this is simple, just put it in IMAGES folder)
2. pictures go, that i DONT want to show up in media (to be accessible only with file manager)

This goes to sounds too:
1. where do mp3 files go
2. where do ringtones go (i dont want them to show in media!)
There are so many folders (digital, simple, etc.) that i dont know what is what..

For today this is enough knowledge... tomorrow maybe starting to hack it. But if you have tutorials, links, sites, post them here too please. I want to know this phone like i did with the G900.
Please understand i have no more energy to search, nor nerves anymore... 6h straing setting and copy contacts destroyed me thank you.
Any tips/tricks/help will be appreciated!

All files show up in the media browser, unfortunately.

However, if you install Y-browser, you can create a folder for the ringtones/images you don't want to show up, then set it's properties to "System" This way they won't show up and can only be viewed with either the file browswer or Y-browser.

You might need to change the property back when you want to select a different ringtone in the same folder but you can change it back to "System" afterwards.

hm... pity. It would have been nice to have a separate folder where these types of thing go.. However the phone ringtones do not show up in the media... My battery is out, so i cant experiment.. Maybe place the ringtones in same folder as phone ringtones?... my dad said (before he gave it to me - he now "upgraded" to vivaz) that he did it somehow.. but i dont know exactly how. I moved some mp3 so far to audio, so far so good (1500files).. tomorrow will copy some pictures. But i dont like the idea of having a mess in standby photo tab.. I mean what pictures do appear there? latest? mixed? wallpaper?... if its mixed, it's kind of dumb.. :/ maybe i have some pesonal pictures.. (not nude ) and they will appear there :/

Pictures are considered photos and thus displayed in the media browser if they contain meta information of the kind that a digital camera normally uses to attach to the image, like shutter speed and aperture, date when the picture was taken, camera brand and model, etc. Images that don't contain such information are considered as graphics and are not displayed in the media browser, and have to be found with the file manager. I had the opposite problem, i.e. some images I created using a picture scanner to scan in some old photographs did not appear in the media browser due to the above reason.
The cure is to add some meta information (or remove it) using an appropriate tool.

well yes some pictures show up, some dont... but it is a more real answer.
And what about the sounds? how do i avoid ringtones to show up in the media player?

EDIT: Thank you. works perfectly! i removed meta data from contact pictures with "stripper", and now they dont show up anymore in the pictures TAB (standby). only in the media. maybe there is a way to clear it from there too, but i doubt ( i thought about moving it to phone memory... but i doubt that will do any difference).

So now the only problem left are the ringtones... i have ~100 and it's annoying to see them in the media while u listen to music. So any help?

well after some experiments (few hours) i noticed that if you move your rintones to phone memory -> sounds and simpli put them in that folder, they wont show up in the media.
So problems fixed.
There are alot of unknown folders in the satio... ex in Images folder on memory stick there is a folder called pictures and backgrounds... the pictures is not seen in the file manager, only backgrounds.. And if u put something in there (through PC) it will change name to "wallpapers" when browsing with file manager. Odd..
Still this phone lacks alot. Hope to see more support from SE. I got this phone for free. It's a good phone, but not worth its price. Lacks alot of good features, and this cant be forgiven as it is SE's Entertainment Unlimited FLAGSHIP phone..

EDIT: hope to see some camera modding, i mean a heavy one, The way grass and leafs look like are terrible!! (not in macro, but regular shot). Man i hate SE post processing.. Today i just saw some N8 samples and i jizzed in my pants.. google them.
