a lot of us have been bummed out because we flashed our x10 phones with the wrong firmware. now, we have a solution.

follow these steps, but first and foremost, BACKUP YOUR FILES
please note that i believe this will only work for X10a model phones. meaning you flashed your x10a with x10i firmware. i do not know if this will work with x10i phones.

1 - download and unzip the following file - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UJIQU2JM

2 - put the x10a_xxxx and the back_x10a files in the C:Program FilesSony EricssonUpdate Service and put the .jar file from the zip file into the Plugins folder. you will be prompted to overwrite the file, click yes. when you overwrite the file, there will be a usbflash_log.txt created (if you don't get one, you are doing it wrong

3 - run the Update Service it should now give you the option to install, run it.

4 - it will now download the files. and you basically have to replace the two files 100+mb and 15+mb file (db/13740270/blob_fs) with the firmware of your choice. to download the correct firmware for your phone visit http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=195467

5 - once you have replaced the files, run Update Service again. it should now flash to the firmware X10a.

again, do this at your own risk. i have only tried this with my X10a which i had flashed with X10i firmware. i do not know if this will work with X10i phones.

again, back up your files.

the files and photos have been provided by goroh_kun from xda-developers forum. he was a great help to me. i thanked him for his help. and if this works for you, you should thank him as well.

i have been playing with the xperia x10. with the older firmware i have noticed that the battery life is crap. before it was actually getting better. but now, it's crap. i unplugged the phone today at 8:40am. it is now 1:23pm and the battery life went from 100% to 64% with minimal use of the phone - 1 call. checked timescape 1 once, checked 5 email notifications, and browsed the internet for 5 mins max.

call quality went down as well. it was fine with the newer firmware, louder and clearer. now it's not as loud and not as clear.

speach to text does not appear to be with the firmware. this is somewhat of a major blow for me, for now anyways.

It seems you are one of the experts about x10 here. I am knew to this debranding thing, but I am quite sure I foolowed all the instructions to the letter.
But do not seen to find this two files in the db folder. The biggest folder there is about 10k.
This is what the first 2 files looks like of all the files in my db folder
ICON_276608135_1232609609000
ICON_275288536_1175157108000
None of the files are more than 10k
So where are the files to replace. I have download the new files from the web site, but which ones do I replace.
Please help

I thought speech-to-text required Android 2.0 (or 2.1)?

when i had the x10i firmware with the newest version of the firmware .16 instead of .14, i could speech to text. i did this when i was looking up addresses on google maps, text messages, and even google search.

right now i'm back to the x10a .14 firmware and it's not working.

about debranding -

you have to run the update service. it will download the files. once it is downloaded, you can then replace them.
