So I hope we can put all of our efforts for video calling into this thread here.

I don't know how many users are actually able to use video call in their respected countries but the tech is way behind here in America.

I've just installed Fring and used the skype video call and tested that I can receive video feed during a video call but cannot send my video feed. Meaning, I can view the other party's video but they cannot view mine (and I have no idea if my video is even working during a video call at this point).

Has anybody attempted different ways of video calling? if so, what were your results?

It'd be nice to get a collective effort to get video call to work, I feel that it would be a great step forward for the Satio community.

I would hope for this can be the universal thread for video calling information.

So as of now the self-aimed video is only good for one thing, and that is a mini mirror, not even the size of the full screen but if you guys need to check yourselves before a hot date or an important meeting, be sure to press:

1)red, green, red, red, green, red
2)service tests
3)video call camera
4)look at your own beautiful mug!

There isn't enough bandwidth for att or tmobile to support everyone doing video calls... plus not a lot of american phones have a second front camera...

Hopefully this new iphoneHD (find out June 7th) which does include a front camera... will have att roll out with videocalls. otherwise... you'll have to wait another decade for US to catch up.

Yea that is obviously out of the question for now but since the second camera is there and we know that it works in the service test, I'm surprised there isn't an APP (actually I'm not suprised since our aftermarket is so horrible) that lets us use the second camera in full screen view as a mirror or a video recorder.

This thread is still dedicated to anything relating to the Satio, video calling, and use of the second camera.

Hi,

The Sony Ericsson Satio is a smartphone, announced by Sony Ericsson at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain on 15 February 2009 as the Idou. It was released on 7 October 2009 in the UK in 3 colour schemes: Black, Silver and Bordeaux (Red). The focus of the phone is the high quality playback of music and video, as well as photography. The camera is located on the back of the phone, behind a slider and features a xenon flash. On the side of the phone, there is a shutter button, and a button which allows you to switch between still and video modes. Next to this is a rocker switch for zooming in and out. Also on this side is a button for playback of photos or video. The other side of the phone has a sliding lock button and a covered slot for a MicroSD card.

Thanks
Devid

One of many flaws of this supposed hardcore media unlimited, flagship phone from a mobile giant. LIES.

It is so sad how the entire forum if full of posts on how to make satio the way it should've been from the factory, nobody making posts praising 's great work or the satisfaction that the Satio brings. A bunch of fail, I kind of want to sell it and just jump on the iclone 4g bandwagon.

Sony Ericsson, why does it seem like you're purposely trying to push loyal SE fans away to other companies?
