Hi all,

I've read this forum for years but never posted...well there's a first time for everything.

The latest SE phone I bought was the K850 a few months ago. I know it was released 2 years ago but there's only a handful of phones I fall in love with...and that was one of them. The problem is, I bought mine via eBay from Hong Kong.
When I got the phone, on the first day it reset itself, and each week something new presented itself. Now, like all good techies, I did do some research before I bought the phone. I seen it had a few problems, but there were plenty of people who seem to avoid the problem models...and others who said try new drivers etc.

Well, I decided to try the new drivers, firmware etc. The boost the camera was great, but problems persisted. And as time went on, new problems seem to present themselves. Massive lag, frequent resetting, deletion of everything on memory card...can't even remember half of it. It already had the latest firmware when it arrived though...

I contacted the seller in HK, and they seemed fine to have it sent back. Now, I've sent it back... reluctantly...(surely all of us remember the different phones we fell in love with...I remember my T610...what a beauty...)and it has since suffered delays because of the Icelandic volcano problem. I seen the seller had mostly crap, outdated models, clearly trying to get them out of the shop...but I did see a C902, which cost a bit more. So I said to the seller, I paid loads of import charges (you didn't drop the gift value low enough) and now return package charge...could you do a clean swap for a C902? They said yes, so send everything back.

Now I noticed the C902s for sale are all gone...I don't think it's half as hot as the K850...and the jump from the K to C series was unsuccessful at first given all the problems seemed to follow...even on the C902 from what users online wrote...

So I'd be very greatful for comments, advice...do I try and jump to C902? Or settle for the K850? Other comments?

Thanks!

C901 and Elm are great phones, but given your situation you can't opt out with them ne ?
I do have a C902 for about 15 Months and I absolutely love it, Have had about 7,8 Restarts for the time being and 5,6 of them were due to a flash screen saver I used, Since I removed it all were fine. Actually the Phone is better than the Day one with new firmware upgrades, Loudspeaker is really good and the Battery is very reliable still, not like Nokia junk

I know the camera is not great in lowlight but it does make good shots in daylight, That is my opinion and wait for the others too

I would like to tell you about Elm also. Think about it.
I still have my K850 as back up. I would never trade it for C902, that screen is to small. For the rest, not much difference.

i loved my K850, (except it might wasn't the best "point & shooter"). the screen is super-crispy and the automatic lens cover is a splendid idea, dont mention the Design, (such a lovely shape)

if you love taking photos much indoor and need a strong Xenon flash, go for K850, (very accurate most times).................
if you want a splendid "point & shooter", but most of all, ultra robust steel casing, go for C902, (why not a Titanium C902, its gorgeous)

Black k850 Vs Titanium C902..........

I've had mine Black C902 for ~2 years now, and its still looks brand new...that's crazy ..........Good Luck !

I am using my K850i for last 2 years. And i love it. It has bigger screen than c902 and stronge xenon flash. I use my K850i very heavily. No problem with that. About lags, you can avoid that to some extent. About restarts, you can flash it to latest firmware eventhough it has latest one. I recommend you for K850i if you have to choose between K850i and c902. Otherwise there are others as well like elm, aino etc.

Hmm. Well I'm pretty much locked into this seller, they say no refunds, and before I bought my K850 from them I didn't realize that that specific shop seemed to be clearing out older phones. But as I say I was quite happy to take a step back for that beauty K850. It will be a while before I can splash out on a new, really nice one, I think I'll just have to make do with what the seller has. So, C902, maybe C905 and last resort another K850 and pray it works...

like said............i've had mine C902 for nearly 2 years now, and i've used it every day.

look at the shape of it (yes, it looks brand new)......now thats build quality..........best Phone Sonyericsson ever build (regarding quality).....my K850 got some scratches and some edges got little abraded after just 4-6 months (for the record).

shot with Elm today, by the way

Nice shot, by the way! And very interesting point about build quality of C902. Now that's what I want to hear, and fair play with keeping it in good shape. With new phones in the past, I actually didn't let people touch the phone for a few months....lol

You must keep your K850i if compared wd C902.. But if you wanna jump to C series, then don't think of any other phone other than a C901..
