I have this phone for a month and the in-call volume really pisses me off. so i went bought a earphones that comes with mic i spent $130 on it and it didnt work the music was disorted and u couldnt make calls and couldnt use the mic when the headphone was plugged. so i went to best buy tried 6 best high end brands with mic still samething none of them worked with music or calls . when i plugged a regular earphones with no mic it works. so whats going on here? something wrong with my phone or sony ericsson doesnt let u use third party earphones headsets. and i called sony ericcson about it the guy didnt know anything such a terrible service. i feel so mad that i should break the phone or sell it.

my x10i was shipped with the Bluetooth mw600, the volym/mic is significant better than the phone incall volym in my opinion anyways.

i guess the next update will boost the incall volym SE can't ignore it anymore. but who knows. just sell your phone if you don't like it.
(for the note, the line-out volym is low too, and i hope it will be fixed soon) i still love the phone despite the volym issue.

Instead of breaking it, you can give it to me .

A headset with an integrated mic simply does not fit because the 3.5 mm jack is not designed for it. The jack is a normap earphone jack that has 3 connectors, right, left and ground, while the plug for the headset probably has four, right, left, mic and ground. The distorsion is probably caused by that the signal probably passes through the microphone as well ,and thus, the volume level will also become lower than normal.
There is a possibility that you have broken the phone by connecting this kind of headset to the phone. There is also a possibility that you have broken the mic in the headset by connecting it this way.

I got mine today & the in call volume is rather low but I can live with it for now. Signal is great & I just love the phone it's stunning. There are always alternative ways of dealing with it. But hopefully are aware of this cos compared to the X10 Mini that phone's call volume is loud

The plug fits fine, he hasn't broke it. It's just the way SE wired the thing.. If you hold the 'call' button on the headset you'll notice that the sound becomes normal. As soon as you release the button the sound will get distorted. The Xperia X1 had the same 'problem'. In order to fix this you'll have to:

-A: Rewire the headset
-B: Get one of these extensions with a build in mic like these:

http://cgi.ebay.nl/Sony-Erics[....]h=item19bdbbea99#ht_3473wt_911

and then use the last part of your own headset (if your own headset exists of two parts as well, otherwise you'll get a headset wire of 3 meters)

if you are buying earphones for the iphone... for example, Klipsch s4i, image x10i etc, they wont work. They are made specifically for the iphone....

try something like the klipsch s2m... its compatible with any phone. not just the iphone.
