> How do you to take care of slider phones?

What are the best ways of taking care of your own slider phone? I love SE, problem is most of the units are slider phones, especially my two candidates(for buying): Yari/Kita and Hazel/Elm... Give me some tips... Once I had a Nokia slider phone it lasted a year and then started breaking down due to flex problems... I'm a very active texter and I have my phone in my hand most of the time... Thank you..

Most slider phones lose their flex cable after a year or so as it loosens up. But I would say the best tip is just be gentle with it to be honest. I see many people using slide phones & they are quite rough with the slide snapping it up & down quite hard. Gentle hands

It depends IMO more on how well the phone has been designed. I have friends with phones which are sliders and 5 years old. I have a N95 8gb which is almost 3 years old. All mentioned sliding phone still work perfectly.

Agree. I have N95 8GB, and W910, and C905 both of which still work perfectly. Much more reliable than flips phones imo.

I have the Hazel, slide it up and down daily, dropped it once, but the mechanism still doesn't feel like it's going to snap or whatever.

I would say; Never, Ever leave your slider-phone lying around with the slider
OPEN. It's more prone to damage that way.
The flex cable is still working fine on my C905, ever had a problem with that.

I've never put any particular emphasis on slider care, but after 1 year using my W995, sliding it open felt like the day I bought it- sturdy and firm. The only thing I've practiced is use friction from the middle of my thumb and middle finger while pushing it to close with my index finger to practically buffer the impact of opening and closing. It's a habit and in no way a precaution for me and it works as far as I can say

Lol, I'm a newbie but I'd just like to contribute my 2 cents. Well, most phones today have an improved sliding mechanism. Especially Nokia's. I've also noticed that some Samsung phones have a stupid spring in it. I'd say stay away from older models and first find out from other users who have a certain phone that you like. The best way of taking care of your prospective phone is to find out more about it before you buy it and don't judge an entire brand on just one model. Like the Samsung E250. The worst phone ever produced by a respectable company but my brother never had problems with his Samsung B3310.
