Does anyone else find the notification and ringing volume on this (mostly otherwise wonderful) phone to be very, very quiet? My Nokia N85 used to blast it out but I've missed almost every text message alert whenever I've had music on in the room or am playing a game.

I've still got the original firmware on my phone because it's a PAYG from O2 and they've not released any update yet, so I don't know if later firmware will fix this. I'm considering debranding but can't find a tutorial specifically for this phone anywhere.

Hey Schnide, actually, my Mini Pro is extremely loud. I've got a fairly loud home theater that I blare when I'm home and I can still hear my Mini Pro over it, and I'm usually set on 80% ringer volume.

Are you using the default apps?

Android has a very confusing way of triggering audio...

Each app has it's own notification volume that is NOT tied in with the settings of the phone. So if you have a different SMS and Phonebook app, it overrides the phone settings (this is app dependent so not ALL apps do this as well)

What ringtone are you using? The WAV or MP3 file might be the soft one.

Oh, I almost forgot... the speaker is at the lower back of the phone... if you set the phone down on a soft sofa or pillow... it will muffle the sound significantly (almost muting it) ... this is due to the fact that the speaker and back cover fit together quite well together so no sound leaks out from the sides of the battery cover. This happened to me once, and I missed a call cuz my phone was in another room on my sofa. Usually I set it down on a side table and I can hear it just fine from the bathroom or bedroom of my apartment.
