Hi

I have previously been able (with other SE Phones), to connect my phone to my laptop in places with no WIFI and use the phone to connect to the internet through 3G etc.

Is this possible in some way with the X10 as I don't appear to be able to make it happen ?

Thanks

There are a couple of apps you can download from Market that would enable you to do this. They are called PDAnet and Easytether.

Good luck.

I use this on my mini too although it doesn't hold a connection unless I have the music player running in the background at 0 volume even though I have set my wifi sleep policy to never switch off. Plugged in and it works fine though!

Thanks for the info.

I have tried PDA NET but it will only connect when I have wifi switched on with the phone. I want to use 3g etc.

Ideas ?

I use Barnacle as well. Thanks to RJS for the music in the background tip!

My review of Barnacle Wifi

Easy Tether is ok if you're just using Windows and nothing else.

FroYo (2.2) comes with USB & Wifi sharing by default... although I have no idea when will release this for the X10 family... sigh...

PDAnet will work with 3G. Not sure why you're having trouble, but I was able to get it to work fine.

Perhaps if you describe what you've been doing, we can figure it out.

Yes, PDAnet worked fine for me over 3G too.

Im using easytether for mine, it works great on windows, and connects so much faster than phone software normally does.

PDANet and EasyTether both work fine for me as well.If I had a preference I would go with EasyTether.
Tell us a bit more about how you are setting it up and maybe we can suggest a solution.
