Do you not think Sony Ericsson are running out of ideas, and also need to make more touch screens that are a little more affordable, I mean there mid-ranges like X10 Mini, Yendo and X8 are not that good and are tiny.

Also a bunch of X10's is just lame.

these little ones there doing are small but they must be selling by the bucket load, I personally dislike them to but they must be good to some people

I actually think that SE is at its best. Android is the best OS out there and SE got it right with the x10 which is one of the best phones 4inch screen, 8 mp (much much better than the one you find on the w995), android, 1ghz cpu and it's a beauty. Also I know you said that you don't like the minis but hold a x10 mini pro and you will like it. The minis are the only touchscreens that can be control only with your thumb and that's where the "tiny" 2.6 inch screen takes place. I have a mini pro myself and i am like: damn fast phones. 600mhz cpu for a qvga screen. anwz if you are not into smartphones then don't forget about the hazel and elm. Great phones. Good batterylife, good camera, good vga recording, excellent screens, solidly built. And SE realised that fastport was stupid and m2 had no chance so they are now using usbs and microSD

still miss my w900 though

@nfts-pstrfs, I agree... android is, imo, the best mobile OS out today...if only would release the CURRENT version, and not something 2 generations old... and please, global roll-out... none of this "in certain markets" only crap.

I'm still running A08 on my Mini Pro, no signs of a firmware update yet!

@space!!!! The P800!!! Hahahaha! The fugliest keypad I've EVER seen! Thankfully it was removable! I remember tolerating the difficulty of using a resistive screen w/ my thumb just so I didn't have to use that fugly thing!!!!

Actually, as trivia, the first full touchscreen phone Ericsson had was the R380, this was the origin of the P800, P910, and P990 designs... and imo, looked way better.

Hmmm... I wonder if there are still some working models of that on ebay...

I don't think they are running out of ideas. I agree their phones have been somewhat like each other lately (yeah, maybe 4 versions of the X10 is a bit of an overkill) but they are playing pretty clever I think. They have to cut cost seriously and this way they can save a bit on R&D and still serve all the segments for Android (taking the X10 mini and pro as mid-range like things). After all they are coming back to profits again, which is the only thing they really need atm.

I had both the P800 & P900 & hated them. I had the P800 on a T-Mobile contract & it was in for repair more than I used it I don't think is running out of ideas, what I do think is their brand needs a refresh & they need to sort out this A300 whenever that maybe As for touch screens they have a good amount but they more than likely would make a killing with higher profits if they followed more trends & threw out a new touch screen every week like Samsung & LG do. But that won't happen as is just & they do things their way by taking ages to release phones & not always following trends. I like that it makes them different but it could also be their downfall. I hope not. They do need to perhaps refresh the Walkman brand a little with some really cool Walkman touch screen phones. The latest one announced is a little lacking in excitement & has not that many good features. Not sure they have run out of ideas but more lost their way If is to really make huge profits like Samsung or LG they need to focus on mid range handsets more for mass market. Love them or hate them but Nokia sells their cheap Symbian touch devices like hot cakes that's something should do

I think carries on with the same design ideas they've had for years. Even the strategy haven't changed much. They release a overpriced and usually delayed high-end device and them use its tech to make cheaper phones all the way to the low end. The only thing that changed is android. realized, just like the entire market, that there's no future in win mo. Since uiq was also a failure, there weren't much choices to go for since symbian is outdated by now. Android is working and :se is enjoying it. I just wonder for how long. If they keep delaying OS updates like that, they might become again irrelevant in the high-end space.
