Satio is a great handset. It has many good features, but also some features missing that would have really been icing on the cake. However some of the missing features, such as kinetic scrolling, are really just user preference. Usually if a feature like Kinetic scrolling has been left out there is a feature to achieve the same thing.

So how about anyone who has found any cool undocumented features in Satio list them here so we can get more out of our Satio's?

As new tips get added to this thread, I will copy them into the body of this original post, with appropriate credit of course

*NOTE* Service menu command for Satio may confuse those moving from feature phones (which use dpad): simply enter red-green-red-red-green-red quickly without delay between key presses.

I'll start with a couple:

Media Library:

Fast Scrolling:
you can scroll a list of songs quicker than swiping by simply holding your finger firmly at the very edge of either the top or bottom of the screen (relative to orientation). So if you start to scroll a list with your finger, when your finger reaches the edge of the screen hold your finger there without moving it, and you will find the list will continue to scroll automatically. I find this scrolling to be as fast as kinetic scrolling on Samsung i8910.

Personally I prefer this method, and was frustrated with the inability to turn off kinetic scrolling on the i8910.

Watch DIVX videos on Satio
Satio can play DIVX Video. But the problem is it can only do so if the divx video stream is encapsulated in an MP4 container. So if you have a bunch of DIVX Videos in AVI format all you need to do to play them on Satio is "convert" them to MP4. But the trick is we are not actually converting. The video codec remains unchanged. All we need to do is repackage them in an MP4 container.

Because we are only repackaging, and NOT converting, the whole process takes only about 2 minutes or so for an entire 1GB movie. So we can prepare 10 movies for our satios in 20 minutes, the time it would usually take to convert one movie alone.

Camera:

Setting Focus in Video Mode
If you start a video recording, the camera focus will be set to infinity. This is perfect for anything a few metres away or more, but any closer and it results in blurry footage (for example macro mode). To have the camera set the focus at the start of the recording, start off in still mode, half press the shutter while aiming the camera at something you want to record, then without letting go change to video mode.

The video camera will maintain that focus setting for the entire recording session - even if you stop recording and start a new recording; it will do so with the same focus setting. It will stay at that setting until you exit the video camera.

Unfortunately though there is no way to enable continuous focus.

Assorted:

Locking tips
The lock slider is by far the easiest way to lock/unlock the keypad. However if the slider is broken, or for whatever reason you don't like that way of doing it, here is another way:

To lock or unlock, Hold the green key, then while still holding press the red key and camera key simoultaneously.

If you find that difficult, to unlock hold the camara key, then press and hold the red key, then press the green key and then release all keys. To lock do the reverse; press and hold the green key, then press and hold the red key, then press the camera key and then release all keys. (credit to crazyyen, http://www.se-satio.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=57&start=0 )

Of course, you can also lock the handset by pressing the power key (press, don't hold) then selecting "lock screen and keys"
Avoid wallpaper/theme changing back to default when removing memory card

This is rather obvious, but here it is anyway: Save the desired wallpaper image (or theme) on phone memory (c:) using the file manager, then set this copy as the wallpaper or theme.

Spare Battery
If you have an old K800/K790 or K810 lying around the batteries will fit the Satio. They won't last as long, I think they are about 850 (edit: my mistake, it's 950mAh) compared to 1000mAh of the Satio, but could be a useful 2nd battery. DISCLAIMER - the voltages match, but I have not tried this for any length of time so if you try it check periodically at first to ensure the battery doesn't get hot. - I recently bought a 950mAh BST-33 and it's running fine in my Satio, so I highly doubt there would be any problem with running the K800 battery
I got this idea off norbi_nw but don't blame him if your phone explodes. Caveat emptor!

Internet Browser Tips:

Open multiple windows using default browser
Create a bookmark with the address as “javascript:void(window.open());”
If you are on a website and want to open a new window, goto bookmarks and select the new window bookmark - a new window will open. You can then enter an address for that window. To switch between windows goto "switch window". You then get arrows in the top of the screen for switching between open windows.

Another way is to use this link: http://symbianwindow.site666.info It will open a new window with google search.

Access Autocomplete list
If you change the keyboard to mini keyboard mode, when entering text in a web field, a drop down list of previous entries appears. You can select from the list directly. You can also move the keyboard by dragging the four way directional icon. This drop down list is not available in full keyboard mode.

Contact Tips:

call contacts easily with the green key
I have noticed some people aren't aware of the full usefulness of the green (send) key. If a number is highlighted in a text message, the green key will call the number without further prompting. Likewise, the green key will immediately call a highlighted contacts default number (if they have two numbers and you click options/call you then have to specify which phone number to use).

Select contact in new sms or email with first few letters
You can select the contact for a new sms or email, a bit quicker than normal by clicking in the address field rather than the 'to' field. Once in the address field, just type the first two or three letters, then click the green arrow, then click 'to', and you will be prompted to choose from an abridged list of contacts including only those that have those three letters in them. This method uses about two-thirds as many key presses as the standard way of going into the 'to' field and typing the contact name, and involves less changing from screen to screen.

A slighly quicker way is to enter the first three letters in the 'to' field, type the message, then click send, and you will be prompted to select from the list of contacts that have those three letters (in that order)in their name.

One screen contact searching
When searching for contacts people are often frustrated by the fact that you get a split screen with the alphabet on two pages. If you turn the phone to landscape mode, 90% of the time you will get one page not two.

One thing to understand here is that what the phone is doing is displaying each of the letters that exist in the names in your contacts list. So for example if you only had the the characters of the alphabet not including q, x and z, and no other characters (for example numbers or ampersand etc) in any of the contacts in your contact list, then all the letters would fit on one screen in portrait mode (23 characters fit in the screen in portrait mode). However in landscape mode, more characters fit and therefore a split screen is not necessary.

So if you don't have any contacts with the letters q, x and z in their names, and can avoid using any non alphabet characters in your contacts names, then you will be able to fit all the letters on one screen.

Still not as good as the A200 way of choosing contacts, but a bit more efficient than the split-keyboard way.

Dialpad Codes
pretty common tips but thought I'd include them (I think these apply to s60 generally):

*#62209526#
WLAN MAC address

*#2820#
Bluetooth MAC address

*#06#
IMEI

*#0000#
Firmware version

*#7780#
Soft reset (asks for phone lock code; 0000 unless changed by user)

*#7370#
Hard reset (asks for phone lock code; 0000 unless changed by user)

*#92702689#
Total Call Time

a little better than N95-1. Battery life is not good, but it will get you through a day of heavy use.

You can take Ir photos with cameraphones by covering the lens with an Ir pass filter - which can be made from the darkened unexposed but developed strips of negative from a roll of film.
