Hello!

I have bought Displex Display Polish, and I want to use it on my P800!

But this polish removes scratches from the display...I don't know if I can use this on P800...it has a more "soft" display, and I am afraid that it will damage the display...

Can someone give me some help?

Best regards, Patrik

Well...I haven't used it!
The reseller I bought it from said it would be ok...
But I had doubts and thought that it would damage the phone!

So I sent Displex an e-mail and they confirmed what´s written above.
The text on the procuts says: Warning, only fpr phone displays

So I think someone will do this mistake...

What can you use instead of this to clean your display?

Thanks for the replies!

Best regards, Patrik

However, I have NOT tried or heard anything about the P800 screen YET. Haven't had any client ask but I am waiting to hear from Displex regarding the P800 screen. In the meantime I would not recommend anyone using it on their P800 screen.

To avoid accumulating scratches on my P800 screen because of my stylus, I immediately covered it with a washable screen protector on day one.

The washable screen protector is good because if you mis-align the protector when laying it over the screen, you can just take it off and lay it over again. Another thing, if it accidentally gets soiled by your fingers while laying it over the screen, you can just wash it with soap and water. It does not use any glue-like substance to adhere to the screen and when you take it off the screen, it won't leave marks on your P800.

Since there aren't any size and form for the P800, I trimmed an IPAQ cover to fit the screen (have to make it rectangular though, it would be very difficult to follow the curves of the P800 display). I attempted to use the picture on the box (just a wee bit larger than the actual) as template but the softness of the protector material made the drawing and the cutting difficult).

As with all electronics you need to be cautious. The manufacturers of Displex says that it works fine on PDAs but they didn't say anything specifically about the P800. I am not sure if the P800 screen differ any from other PDAs but my good friend has been using Displex on his Palm PDA and it has given excellend results.

When I get any scratches on my P800 I will definitely use Displex but I will just be cautious and follow the instructions. I've used Displex on my T68 for a long time and it did wonders to my old Motorola.

Sorry for causing any confusion!

Well, I was in contact with Displex...

They told me to NOT use this on the P800. It will damage the display. It is not for "touch screens"...

Take care guys!

This is what the manufacturer of Displex told me:

"Concerning the P 800 I talked to our technician but he has no experiences so far with this type of cellular. According to our experiences with those multimedia devices, there are two types of displays around at the moment.

Version no. 1 has got an anti-reflective coating. The surface is droopy
like the ones you know from laptops. In that case the coating would
be dissolved by DISPLEX and the display would become shinier after
application.

Version no. 2 is transparent like a normal cellular display. In case it should have a hardened coating like on PDAs by Compaq for example,
this coating would also be dissolved and would have to be removed
completely.

You simply might try and find out. The only thing you would have to
consider is that repeated application is necessary and this could take
time but the scratches should disappear anyway."
