I am considering going over to the 3 network after 5 + years with O2 and 10 years with Mercury121/T mobile.
I have heard bad things about 3's customer service, all opinions welcome.

Thats all I can back up, and as many will tell you, their good at getting you in but the quality of service I got was absolutly shocking, I had to threaten trading standards to get my bloody PAC code, as did my mum and my uncle, in fact I'm yet to come across anybody that has actually renewed a contract with them.
I wouldn't reccomend, especially in the NW, their signal is shocking.
Just my experience for you, but I'd tell anybody to steer clear.
Stay with a network you trust, even if it is an extra fiver a month

They are offering such a good deal its hard to not join em.
But then again GiffGaff unlimited is only £30 a month.

I'm off to 3 in a week, O2 offered me jack all through redemptions so decided to go for the £10 Sim only monthly rolling contract deal. 100 mins, 3000 texs, and 1GB internet - and if signal isn't up to scratch I can just change to another provider in a month!

My experience of 3UK is good with coverage, reliability & customer service was not as bad as expected. Only thing I experienced that I did not like was the occasional incoming call not ringing & saying number not recognised

I'm on 3Uk pay-and-go and have been for a while now and i've had no problems, there coverage and quality of 3g service is the best i've used hardly any drop outs and i'm rarely without 3g coverage, i've never had the occasional incoming call not ringing & saying number not recognised it's more likely your phone than the network, i can't comment on their customer service as i've never had a problem and i am on pay-and-go so they can't really screw me over and if they did i could very quickly and easily switch networks.

It cannot be the phone if the network says number not recognised

I can praise them too just that happened sometimes even in good coverage. My ex was on 3UK & she had same issue when I sometimes rang her the number just said not available. But overall they are excellent. 3UK seem to have really come a long way & are future proof with a reliable high tech network. In main cities I have never been out of coverage when I was with them but never tried them in the sticks although they have Orange 2G to fall back on & T Mobile 3G too

Funnily enough that the same problem I am having.
giffgaff are just O2 without customer services, although tariffs are good.
3 have the sim only One plan for £25 12 months and loads of mins 2000 X network 5000 texts etc.
I had enough trouble choosing a new phone
