My Smoke Alarms go off
and I haven't a clue why but I had to basically punch the thing to turn it of odd

if there had been a fire i'd of run out ages ago before those went of
probaly be bitten badley on the process by the Cockatiels too

Seriousley though there such a nuisance and even worse thing is there living of my
electricity so i cannot de-activate them at all

Rant over

Cut the power from mains + pull out the emergency battery, but it should then beep every few mins. I guess a hammer would be a simpler solution.

Ours are a pain in the arse, even if you unplug the power it charges a battery so it won't go off.

Check around, they are smoke alarms not fire alarms. Check around near your boiler etc check all pipework

LOL you should tell Steve jobs he might come up with a new idea and call it I ALARM but the downside of that would be you could never change the batteries:)
