The latest version of MyPhoneExplorer (1.8.0) actually connects to X10 over WiFi under certain conditions. With MyPhoneExplorer, you can transfer files between the computer and the memory card, and also synchronize calendar and address book and notes between the phone and the PC, and lots of other stuff.
The certain conditions I mentioned are, I think, that
there may not be too many wireless devices connected to the WLan so that MyPhoneExplorer finds your phone before the timeout expires,
the router in the WLan must allow programs to search for other devices.
Because of this, I cannot connect my X10 to my computer at work. However, this is only a guess from my side, and if anyone has a better explanation, or can tell me how to configure things to connect, please correct me on this point. I haven't managed to connect the phone to the PC with MyPhoneExplorer at all, even though it works with the SE PC Companion. If anyone has a hint about that, I'm really interested too.

Forget the old school phone-cabled-to-your-laptop...
If you wanna sync music... use
iTunes with your Android! This trumps even Apple's syncing since this can sync over wifi.
For file transfers, I no longer like using direct file managers, I prefer
DropBox since it works across all platforms and provides a unified shared folder in all your devices, laptops, desktops, and you can easily share content with friends.
